TITLE: DAY CARE DIRECTOR

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Elementary and/or Director of Community Engagement

JOB DESCRIPTION: The person selected for this position would be responsible for the physical, emotional and intellectual development and safety of all children attending the employee daycare as well as leading and managing the staff of the employee daycare, Young Minds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Child Care, Education or related field.
• CPR and First Aid Certified, or willing to obtain certification.
• Experience overseeing childcare and budgeting preferred.
• Experience working with children.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor assigned students in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plan a program that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students assigned.
• Create an environment that is conducive to the interest and development of the students.
• Prepare for the students enrolled in the program and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of expected behavior.
• Employ a variety of activities that are consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of the students involved.
• Address the learning diversities of all students on a regular basis and seek district assistant as required or needed.
• Adhere to district policy.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Responsible for organizing and administering the program to conform with state law and policies and procedures of the school building and the Superintendent.
• Abide by all district, state and federal laws, policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality with all school and student information. Maintain all compliance documents.
• Organize all activities.
• Assign duties to Young Minds Day Care teachers as needed.
• Maintain all food service storage and sanitizing all equipment and utensils.
• Must hold valid certification for CPR training or be willing to complete certification before start date.
• Open the program and get it ready for the day. Hours for this position are 6:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk or climb stairs.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• 11 month contract
• 205 days
• 8 hour day
• 2.20 Pay Ratio (Step 0 $48,101.20 base salary)

• YPS pays both the employer and the employee share of Teachers' Retirement
