Key Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation & Delivery: Ensure meals are prepared timely and delivered according to menu plans and recipes to the right classrooms.

• Compliance: Maintain safety and sanitation standards following OSHA, Monroe County Health Department, CACFP, and accredited regulations.

• Menu Planning & Inventory Management: Plan and adjust menus as needed, while managing inventory of kitchen and serving supplies.

• Portion Control: Serve meals according to CACFP portioning guidelines.

• Cleaning & Maintenance: Clean public areas, including vacuuming, mopping, and window washing. Ensure trash containers are sanitized and maintain cleanliness in restrooms.

• Kitchen & Equipment Upkeep: Regularly clean kitchen tools, equipment, and maintain a functional work area. Defrost refrigerators and freezers as necessary.

• Receiving Deliveries: Inspect incoming food deliveries, sign invoices, and ensure proper stock management.

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate daily records in compliance with CACFP guidelines.

Children & Parent Interaction:

• Effective Communication: Use appropriate language and tone with children, supporting their self-esteem and self-help skills.

• Warmth & Affection: Foster a nurturing and positive environment for every child.

• Adaptability: Follow family instructions for care routines and maintain confidentiality regarding child-related matters.

• Welcoming Tours: Effectively communicate with prospective families during tours.

Professional Development:

• Continuous Learning: Participate in workshops and training in line with OCFS regulations to enhance your skills.

• Stay Informed: Stay current with policies, OCFS regulations, and national accreditation guidelines.

Communication:

• Daily Interaction: Regular in-person communication with families, coworkers, and supervisors.

• Documentation: Record important information about child development, accidents, illnesses, and medication administration.

Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of cooking or food preparation experience, or a combination of relevant training and experience.

• Physical & Mental Abilities: Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of serving up to 170 children and adults. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

• Skills:

  • Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks and willingness to take direction.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

  • Positive attitude and collaborative mindset to align with the mission of Generations.

  • Familiarity with kitchen operations, including equipment, tools, and utensils, is preferred.

  • Ability to maintain composure and perform well under pressure.
