The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list.

Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled. (The names of eligible candidates on the current list will be merged to the new list in accordance with final scores.) There is currently TWO positions open at Lincoln Middle School and Jefferson Middle School. These are 8 hour/day, 12 month position. Under general supervision, to plan, coordinate, assign, supervise, and perform skilled custodial services and routine minor maintenance functions at a middle school site; to provide lead responsibility for custodial employees; to maintain assigned buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, sanitary, secure, and safe condition; and to arrange and assist in maintaining the physical environment required for activities held at the facility.

Requirements / Qualifications

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this classification would typically be acquired through graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate; two years of responsible experience in the custodial or maintenance trades, preferably including some experience in positions having supervisory responsibility, or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. Knowledge of Methods, materials, and equipment used in cleaning and maintaining various types of surfaces and furniture.

Requirements for maintaining school sites in a safe, secure, clean, and orderly condition. Safety related to cleaning methods, practices, and equipment. Principles of supervision, training, and work layout.

Ability to Coordinate work schedules and tasks. Perform heavy manual labor. Work without immediate supervision.

Guide the work of custodians. Operate specialized cleaning and maintenance tools and equipment. Understand, carry out, and give oral and written instructions.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Maintain records and files in connection with a custodial work program.
