Job Summary

• Day Custodian

Performs general cleaning duties, including monitoring and maintaining the appearance and sanitation of restrooms, halls, and grounds, performs minor maintenance, grounds, and snow removal. Supports building staff to maintain building functional and cleanliness standards. Works on sites independently without direct custodial supervision. Assists school administrators during emergencies and participates in the execution of building fire drills

Job Summary

• Elementary Kitchen Manager

Manages the operation of nutrition services to ensure that a quality, nutritious, and cost effective meal program is available daily to students, staff, parents, and the community. The frequency and percentage of time of duties may vary based on building assignment.

This is a full time position at Salcha Elementary School as follows:

0.6 FTE Day Custodian

Hourly rate: Grade 5: $19.36 - $30.45 DOE

Work hours: 4.5 hours per day

Work year: 12 months

0.4 FTE Elementary Kitchen Manager

Hourly rate: Grade 4A: $18.46 - $29.00 DOE

Work hours: 3 hours per day

Work year: 9 months

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

Job Qualifications for Day Custodian

• High School Diploma or GED

• Working knowledge of minor maintenance processes.

• Depending on specific duties and work locations, a valid State of Alaska driver's license and the ability to receive and maintain access to military bases may be required

Job Qualifications for Elementary Kitchen Manager

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• One (1) year of experience in a position with the use of commercial kitchen equipment (steam tables, convection ovens, coolers, freezers, etc.), customer service, food preparation, and supervisory experience.

• Mathematical skills including basic calculations and application of job related math concepts.

• Ability to work with detailed information/data and maintain strict confidentiality of written and oral information and records.

• Per DEC regulations, must have or be able to pass ServeSafe course within the first 45 days of employment and maintain certification.

• A valid Alaska driver's license and use of personal vehicle. Must be able to gain access to military installations.
