Qualifications:
High School diploma or actively seeking
Prefer work experience in child care center operations including a good knowledge of infant and daycare techniques.
Must have or willing to acquire an understanding of daycare center facilities including knowledge of safe and appropriate activities for children, relevant legislation, policies and procedures to ensure that children are supervised and safe at all times, and financial management.
Organizational skills, able to multitask, be self-motivated, collaborate with teams, and able to work independently.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters of student, parent, and staff information.

Job Goal: To supervise and care for children in the district day care.
Job Status: Full Time,classified, and non-exempt position. Work days and hours will correspond closely with the staff school calendar.

Reports to: Day Care Lead and Building Administrator

Supervises: None
Performance Responsibilities:
Actively supervise and monitor the safety of children in the center
Prepare and organize snacks for children
Help children keep good hygiene
Change the diapers of infants and toddlers
Organize toys and materials to ensure a tidy activity area
Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas
Wash toys and play equipment
Motivate children to pick-up toys and books after activity
Organize activities that allow children to explore interests in age appropriate manner
Follow schedules and routines to ensure that children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime
Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring the problems to the attention of supervisor
Keep records of children's progress, routines, and interest as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities include: working under indirect supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding and/or coordinating others. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: visual and hearing acuity, frequent lifting (35 to 60 pounds periodically), carrying, pushing and/or pulling of students; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 35% walking, 25% kneeling, and 25% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and a generally hazard free environment.
