Overview

Provides support in daily operation of running day camp activities including supervision of day campers.

Responsibilities

  • Transportation of day campers to events with T.S.A. van.

  • Conduct various day camp activities, prepare daily snacks, and supervise day campers.

  • Periodically file and prepare statistical reports.

  • Maintain clean work areas that are affected by day camp activies.

  • Promote favorable public image through dress, appearance, marketing and public relations.

  • Conduct devotions and other activities/duties as assigned by the Day Camp Director.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as may be assigned and appropriate for this position.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT: Basic recreation and sports equipment.

Qualifications

  • Must obtain "Safe from Harm Training Certificate" within six months of hire.

  • Ability to relate well with the public, children, and other staff.

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/REQUIRED:

  • Ability and experience working with children preferred.

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Michigan Driver License with clean record with two years driving experience required.

Required to interact, participate in various recreational activities as required. Must maintain the ability to remain calm with numerous children that may be loud and impatient.

The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description. * Plan Summer Day Camp Program. * Apply for USDA grant and prepare required reports. * Hire staff, recruit volunteers and provide Safe and Harm Training. * Bridge children to the Corps as much as possible. * Seek additional funding from service clubs. * Communicate, publicize, and organize camper recruitment. * Supervise and work with day camp counselors and volunteers. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as may be assigned and appropriate for this position. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT: Recreation equipment as required as well as basic office equipment and computer as needed. Qualifications Youth programming skills required. * Good communication and organizational skills required. * Good computer skills and knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel required. * Must obtain "Safe from Harm Training Certificate" within six months of hire. * Valid Driver's license with clean driving record required EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED / PREFERRED: * Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent required. * Minimum of one year experience working with youth programming preferred.
