Davidson Outdoors Temporary Paddling Program Support is central to the Outdoor Odyssey program. This includes involvement in training and development of the paddling skills for Outdoors Odyssey trip leaders, providing risk managment to the program, and organizing and conducting TL debriefs. This also includes involvement in Outdoor Odyssey sessions. The paddling program support is central in building and supporting the Outdoor Odyssey summer TL community.
Provide whitewater canoe training for up to 12 trip leaders
Provide whitewater program risk management in consultation and in action on the river
Support Outdoor Odyssey paddling days, empowering students to learn and grow through paddling
Knowledge Skills and Training:
ACA Level IV or higher
Background in outdoor leadership
Knowledge of generally accepted practices in outdoor education
Solid computer skills including competence with Google Docs, Sheets, Forms
Commitment to student development, leadership and teamwork
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Requirements:
Current certification at the Wilderness First Aid level or higher.
Current CPR certification
Environmental and physical demands:
Whitewater paddling is an integral parts of the job. Employee must be able to lift and carry loads of up to 50lbs.
Job entails prolonged periods outdoors, including exposure to inclement weather, toxic plants and wildlife.
Job occasionally requires use of solvents, adhesives and petroleum fuels.
