Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology or MIS (or related field).

  • Must be able to work globally with a team of subject matter experts who direct activities of an outsourced support team in day to day incident management as well as day to day maintenance activities and projects.

  • Able to assist in managing/driving resolution of incidents impacting the Critical Production Environment.

  • Must be willing to adjust hours of availability according to Agilent priorities to address matters of urgency that occur during non-standard working hours; occasional week-end and holiday coverage will be required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good analytical and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, results driven environment.

Here's where you take your college degree to the next level by provisioning, managing and supporting database environments of both commercial and in-house developed applications in our worldwide IT Computing Infrastructure. The server landscape includes over 3000 servers running primarily Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and IBM AIX - all integrating with NetApp, EMC or local disk storage. These servers are hosting database technologies like Oracle, MS SQL Server, Postgres & MySQL. Working with other teams around the world, you will identify, qualify, recommend and support database requirements. You will also manage end-to-end monitoring strategy for these databases that focuses on availability, performance, quality and business outcomes. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to research, develop, test, document, deploy and maintain all aspects of emerging open source and public cloud database technologies.

Here is what you'll get to do related to databases:

  • Research & explore new DB technologies and options both on-premises and in the cloud

  • Provide technical leadership for 3rd party operations & development resources

  • Provide guidance in the creation and modification of standards and procedures

  • Be an advocate for existing standards, policies and procedures while pushing for innovation & improvements

  • Develop reports for senior management and key stakeholders

  • Lead and coordinate development of periodic upgrades to the database systems which may also include migration to the cloud

  • Provide guidance for ongoing corrective and preventative maintenance to improve reliability and availability of the databases

The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting Essential Functions: * Provide Mission Assurance Center support that monitors real-time status of all mission capability from communications in and out to mission applications and servers, database applications and servers, desktops and display systems and other ancillary systems and devises to ensure they are fully mission capable all of the time Address and detected issues trending toward mission impacts if possible and if not, determine mission impacts, courses of action to mitigate mission impacts and determine timelines to restore full mission capability to include failover to the backup facility * Perform RMA predictions using engineering and logistics data to meet customer expectations * Analyze product performance against customer specifications and conducting root cause data analyses to determine sources of non-compliant RMA attributes * Perform requirements elicitation, definition, and functional allocation to hardware and software segments and components * Perform trend analysis and product performance analysis of the mission systems, including hardware and software components and provide * Determine gaps in capability and provide the NSDC director with analysis of the impacts and methods to mitigate them * Document the requirements for future mission systems based on the operational needs as identified by the NSDC director * Support of NSDC experiments, exercises and operations * Use modeling and simulation analyses to support design validation and mission benefit analyses * Prepare and brief technical presentations at informal and formal meetings * Write technical white papers, memorandums and reports * Perform research, studies and analyses in support of crew force progression requirements, and manpower assessments * Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts to enhance mission operations * Support the development of technological concepts which improve system performance and mission capabilities * Develop, conduct and document military utility assessments of non-traditional data sensors and sources * Support critical operations during standard and non-standard working hours * Conduct system requirements reviews and create and/or update requirement specifications and technical documentation.
