As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 more years of software engineering or related experience.

We are looking for overall lead/architect position for Core Database Security development team. This position will work closely with the area technical leads within Database Security group to define vision, help design, provide guidance and review the security features. The candidate will represent Database Security group to provide guidance and review the product security design of features/products from other the Database groups.

Requirements:

12 years of development experience on Enterprise Level security systems. Experience providing technical consulting for multiple development groups. Experience in areas of RBAC, network security, data security, authentication, SSL/TLS, Kerberos, encryption, sql injection and security standards. Familiar with relational databases and building scalable highly available products.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements: As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in designing and developing software for tasks associated with measuring and debugging database performance in various cloud services and on multiple platforms. You will have unique opportunity to directly collaborate with the Oracle database, database cloud services, and engineered hardware development teams, to improve product performance. Department Description: The database performance team in the Server Technologies helps make the world's best Cloud Database Platform. We focus on transaction processing database performance in various cloud offerings and on different platforms, using industry standard benchmarks in C and Java, customer workloads, and in-house developed specialized workloads. We also produce performance-related white papers and demonstrate record-setting benchmark results. We work with the latest hardware architectures—SMP, massively parallel processing, NUMA, or clusters—using the most sophisticated database technology. Job Description: This position has wide exposure to various database and DBaaS features running on the latest and best hardware. Your primary job responsibility will be to design, develop, and execute multi-user workloads and monitor, profile, and analyze performance and also investigate OS, compiler, network, and hardware issues that affect cloud performance. Regular collaboration with the development teams will be required to understand the features and to work towards improving product performance. Preferred Skills: * MS or PHD in Computer Science or related field. BS may be considered with outstanding skills and experience * 2 years of software industry experience * Strong analytical and problem solving skills * Strong shell scripting, C, and/or Java Programming * Understanding of Linux operating system * Understanding of Database technologies * Familiarity with database and/or server administration and performance * Familiarity with system monitoring or profiling tools is desirable * Exposure to virtualization or DB service in the cloud will be an advantage Oracle Redwood City CA
