What you will be doing:
The Database Administrator IV is responsible for all aspects of the organizations database management strategy, integrity, and design with subject matter expertise of the data stored within the database systems.
This includes database design; table definition design and creation; ETL (Extract Translate and Load) design and development from conception to implementation; database maintenance, tuning, backup and upgrades.
Lead discussions and mentor application and database development staff with database design, automation and validation of data load routines involving application databases. Architect, create, and document database designs, schemas, and data flow diagrams. Strategize, create and develop the data warehouse design, setup, and maintenance to include extracts and data schemas.
Provide project management or participate as the technical decision maker in a project, as it applies to database technology, storage, or warehousing. Work in a mentoring role to junior members of the team.
Demonstrates strong analytical skills, responsibility, good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness, and is able to provide leadership for junior team members.
Provides database leadership to junior team members, and oversight or mentoring skills to other technical team members related to data.
Schedules, facilitates, and leads business and technical discussions with internal and external business partners and management for data collection, data analysis, methodology, architecture, and documentation.
Schedules, facilitates and leads technical discussions with individuals or groups to accumulate information to apply critical thinking skills in order to increase system performance, mitigate risk, or perform gap analysis.
Independently able to architect and develop ETL using Microsoft SQL server Integrations services and catalog that are used to collect and store the data from external sources, so that data can be accessed by internal or external business and technology partners or users.
Perform code review and troubleshoot in development of custom database packages.
Install, configure, support, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server, or other relational database platforms and its supporting Windows Server, UNIX, or Linux Operating Systems (OS) and associated hardware.
Ensure that routine or special database software upgrades, maintenance, security audits, and patches are performed.
Manage and review database server administration including but not limited to: data and database backup and recovery, system performance, system monitoring, and database security.
Establish best practices to govern database server users, roles, or permissions.
Provides leadership in the overall database designs and setup in support of the company and industry standards.
Design, create, or modify database tables, indexes, constraints, links, stored procedures, and functions.
Advanced knowledge of ANSI SQL (T-SQL preferred).
Provide direction and methodology for the data warehouse design, creation, and maintenance to include data schemas and associated ETL in conjunction with business needs.
Establish standards for data integrity in the company data warehouse through data reconciliation techniques, data analysis, or ETL design issues.
Mentor and proactively support the database needs of the application development teams.
Provide design and structural recommendations for database application tuning and performance enhancements to development team.
Actively attend webinars and conferences as they pertain for database maintenance, direction and industry standardization. Determine industry changes and make appropriate recommendations to management for future technical direction.
Experience you will need:
6 10 years of progressive experience in a Database Administration or Database programming position for a medium to large size organization with a structured IT department preferably in healthcare.
5-6 years of general DBA, or 8-10 years of technology database experience.
Well-developed technical skills
Degree in Information Systems
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field from an accredited school or equivalent
Required Travel Up to 5%
