We are currently seeking an experienced Mid/Sr SQL Server Database Engineer in support of a large platform services enterprise hosting environment. This opportunity includes working with a large enterprise of systems supporting tens of thousands of systems and endpoints.

Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 to 5:00 PM core hours with occasional after hours onsite work to support both a NIPR and SIPR environment.

Position Overview:

  • Work with SQL Server\database STIGs and mitigating vulnerabilities
  • Operation and Maintenance of SQL Server 2014 - 2016
  • Supporting SharePoint database servers
  • Working with SQL Server Availability Groups and Windows Failover Cluster
  • Performing deployments and upgrades supporting application developers
  • Troubleshooting and resolving system outages and incidents.
  • Creating documentation to include CRQs, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Orders, Incidents and After Action Reviews
  • Monitoring SQL Server backups

Required:

  • This position requires an active DOD Top Secret clearance.
  • Possess DoD 8570.01-M/DoD 8140 Certification IAW established mandate prior to start of work - IAT Level II required (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP); IAT Level III is desirable (CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH). Applicants not meeting this requirement will not be considered
  • Work with SQL Server\database STIGs and mitigating vulnerabilities

Desired:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or at least ten (10) years of equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of six years of relevant IT work experience
  • Past experience administering Windows and SQL Server systems
  • Knowledge of backups, snapshots, and restores
  • Experience of Group Policy, Registry, and Windows Server security
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts and technologies.
  • Past experience working with vulnerability reports and STIG reports
  • Experience and knowledge of SCAP tools and SCAP reporting

Provides technical support for solution delivery including analysis, design, evaluation, configuration, installation, documentation, testing, training, and general support across the functional areas of the solution offerings. This individual will be responsible for providing DBA services to application development teams, support multiple database environments, and manage the build-out of database infrastructure. Involves in troubleshooting the OS, RDBMS and proprietary application issues and documenting the procedures.</p><p>Essential Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Responsible for database administration of production databases.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for quarterly patch deployment (PSU) and periodic database upgrades with minimal downtime in database environment.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for database backups, design, development, testing, and performance tuning.</p></li><li><p>Monitor and address database alerts/issues, capacity constraints, and performance related items.</p></li><li><p>Implement Database automation or scripting to automate various DBA tasks.</p></li><li><p>Required to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and be available to perform periodic after-hours support.</p></li><li><p>Experience on Relational Database management systems MS SQL, MySQL and with No-SQL DB systems is an added plus</p></li><li><p>Investigate, assess, and make recommendations for new technologies</p></li><li><p>Work with tech leads and other engineering leaders to build resource utilization estimates</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of standard methodologies related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.</p></li><li><p>Maintain database baseline configuration documentation, including security controls, profiles, role, etc.</p></li><li><p>Setup/Support for Data-Guard.
