We are seeking a Database Analyst.

This job is located on site at our ESN office in Chesapeake, VA. Travel is not typical for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the production database is accurate and up to date. The candidate will enter data from various sources ensuring adherence to the customer's processes.

  • Runs data extractions from the GDMIS Production database for preparation of weekly and monthly reports via dbForge Studio for MySQL as needed by the development staff.

  • Designs and produces reports proactively, using all aspects of the software and at the request of the development staff.

  • Be a part of projects team to explore options both in house and using third-party tools to automate and facilitate accuracy of this data.

  • Must demonstrate good communication skills to interact with DoD entities to obtain data and information needed for the project.

  • Write code for update queries, update data dictionaries as new fields are added to the database and maintain a data correction log.

  • Provides project inputs for any technical projects tied to the database (e.g., upgrades, enhancements, new reporting software, switching merchant accounts, etc.).

  • Provides testing for any upgrades and enhancements in the development environment, staging environment, and production environment.

Education & Certification:

  • Previous Naval background or experience working within the military environment/industry a plus. Naval Logistics Experience highly desired.

  • Some knowledge in navigating of MySQL databases, including using Structured Query Language to design, create, and run customized reports and procedures.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline preferred. Experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.

  • Some front and back-end web development experience is desirable, for when customer desires expansion/modernization.

  • Familiarity using MS Windows workstation products with an emphasis on Excel and its components.

  • Conduct logistical research and life cycle analysis using industry standards such as Open Architectural Retrieval System (OARS), Configuration Data Managers Database Open Architecture (CDMDOA), Birdtrack, DLA E Mall.

  • Demand History, OneTouch, Logiquest, FEDLOG, SNAPSHOT PMS viewer, and Haystack.

Security Clearance:

  • Must hold an active Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET clearance.
