The Role: Sensus, a Xylem brand, seeks to hire a technically skilled Database Administrator. This position will manage all databases currently used for our applications. The main databases are Oracle, MSQL and Postgres. This potion requires maintaining integrity, availability security and performance of the application databases. Essential Duties/Principal

Responsibilities:
  • Conducts in depth database monitoring and performance analysis

  • Troubleshoots highly complex system level issues that encompass system configuration, and software.

  • Provide feedback to design and development engineering for database requirements as well as performance analyses

  • Develops migration tools to support table to table migration from one version to the next of our proprietary application.

  • Help to troubleshoot when upgrades from previous version of our application fails to upgrade to the newer version. This means willing to learn some components of our applications

  • Able to design Database backups plans and processes

  • Able to configure and provide feedback to configure and monitor SQL clusters

  • Configure SQL Server Always on clusters

  • Oracle database migrations from 11g to latest

Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Experience with MSQL 2008 , 2014 and 2016

  • Experience with SQL Server Always on Failover Clustering

  • Highly knowledgeable on Oracle 12G

  • Oracle database migrations from 11g to latest

  • Troubleshoot and resolve security issues, connectivity issues, blocking & deadlock issues and performance issues.

  • Detect and troubleshoot CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.

  • Work experience in Oracle and SQL Server partitioning.

  • Work experience with SQL Profiler and Oracle trace methods.

  • Ability to develop plans for future storage requirements.

  • Automation of MS SQL Server maintenance and alerting. Monitoring failed and long running MS SQL Server jobs.

  • Ability to write automated shell scripts and complex queries.

  • Exposure to Data Collection & linked server setup in SQL server.

  • Be willing to work off-hours and weekends, as needed, and participate in an On-call rotation.

  • Willing to travel at short notice if required.
