Title: Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: Atlanta or Birmingham
Department Name: Information Technology, Application Services, Database Services
Purpose: This position interfaces closely with portfolio and business unit developers to design, implement, tune, and troubleshoot database solutions for new development projects, enhancements to existing solutions, and implementation of purchased vendor packages. A DBA ensures that proper creation, support, placement, performance and security are in place for Southern Company data. Significant coordination is required with developers and infrastructure support groups for operating system upgrades, software upgrades, migrations, and hardware replacements.

Job Requirements :
1.Experience with the varied methodologies of upgrading and migrating SQL Server databases and associated security principles. Experience in addressing migration issues including security settings, permission errors, SQL Collations, version syntax, etc.
2.In-depth knowledge of SQL Server (2012, 2014, 2016,2017, 2019).
3.Knowledge of Clustering, Log shipping, Mirroring, and "Always on" a plus.
4.Understanding of database support for Biztalk , Sharepoint or BI (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS) a plus.
5.Experience with database support of System Center (SCCM, SCOM) is a plus.
6.Understanding of typical DBMS SOX controls is a plus.
7.Organization, workload prioritization, and multi-tasking skills are required.
8.Working knowledge of Windows platform including scripting, editors, etc.
9.Working knowledge and understanding of software development technologies, methodologies, and associated tools
Working knowledge of application architectures (Web, Client Server, Batch, etc.)
Working knowledge of typical IT organization and business units
Experience with IDERA SQL Diagnostic Manager is a plus.
Experience with the Remedy change management solution is a plus.
Working knowledge of typical IT organization and business units
Awareness of energy industry trends, opportunities and challenges is a plus.
