Summary of Responsibilities:
The Database Administrator Team Lead shall be responsible for maintaining current database systems, troubleshooting issues, designing new databases, ensuring database availability, ensuring data integrity, implementing database changes, managing security, and providing on-call support. In addition, the Team Lead will manage the Development or Support DBA teams.

Essential Functions:

Trains and develops technical support and applications staff to better utilize on-line processing databases and the enterprises computing environment.
Provides and designs tools to assist in the management of the database and transaction processing environment.
Works to provide a working model of our transaction processing environment for capacity assessment and planning.
Develops a methodology for the ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas.
Develops a security scheme for the database environment, as well as assisting in disaster recovery if necessary.
Provides leadership during the development and enhancement of the enterprises production applications including working with applications, technical support and operations during the design, development and implementation of applications.
Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion.
Fulfils departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel illness, vacation, or education.
Perform at or above the enterprises Information Technology performance standards.
Participates with vendors in the assessment of advanced transaction processing and database productions including beta and field test participation.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in IT preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Three (3) years managing a DBA team
Ten (10) years experience with Microsoft SQL Server
Five (5) years experience with replication
Five (5) years experience with query optimization and tuning
Ability to write and troubleshoot queries in T-SQL
Experience with large-scale, complex database environments
Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
Five (5) years experience in financial services with specific experience with data privacy regulations including GLBA and with regulatory guidance entities such as the FFIEC.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Systems Development Engineering: * Design, create, implement, and support databases to meet project and system design requirements. * Implement moderately complex changes to existing databases. * Install and configure new database engines and upgrades to new product releases. * Implement physical data models at a project level. * Create, document, and administer, and document database backup and recovery plans, capacity plans and security plans to meet project requirements. Testing / Deliverable Quality: * Assist less senior DBA's when testing new product and database engine releases to ensure features and functions are acceptable. * Ensure integration across systems software and platforms. Production Support: * Analyze and resolve highly problems of medium to high complexity. * Use database / system mgmt. Tools proficiently. * Monitor and tune existing databases of medium complexity and moderate business exposure. * Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve database problems. * Provide general technical support to Services and Development groups. * 24X7 duty required for on-call rotation. Financial Accountability: * Develop volume and cost estimates. Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description. May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders. Qualifications BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. EDUCATION: * High school diploma or equivalency required. * BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent formal training preferred. WORK EXPERIENCE: * 4 - 6 years (or equivalent knowledge base) work experience in Engineering and / or Information Technology – Database environment required. * Demonstrates experience with computer / network systems / hardware and software development methodology / processes obtained through formal training, education and / or work experience. * Experience with design and development of at least one database engine. SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE: Core Knowledge: * Proficient knowledge of physical database design, capacity planning, security planning, backup and recovery systems, operating systems, data modeling, query language, multiple database engines, performance and testing, and software development concepts and technology. * Advanced knowledge of computer / network systems / hardware and software development methodology and process. * Advanced knowledge of technical / business environments.
