Description: Robert Half Technology is looking for a reliable Database Administrator (DBA) to join our client?s team.

The ideal candidate will be able to function effectively with limited oversight and moderate on-site training. He or she should understand the importance of database design, procedural logic and coding practices, and data integrity as it pertains to performance, efficiency and security. The DBA will be responsible for managing multiple database systems that have a 24/7 uptime requirement except for scheduled maintenance and release windows.

The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users. RESPONSIBILITIES ? Monitor and maintain system health and security. ? Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user?s specialized role. ? Identifies database requirements by interviewing customers; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems. ? Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner. ? Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data. ? Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. ? Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses. ? Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users. ? Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards. ? Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity. ? Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required. ? Proactively identifies and resolves issues; manages deliverables and mitigates risks.

QUALIFICATIONS: ? Minimum 7 years professional experience required, preferably in healthcare operations or systems-oriented environments. ? Experience with Agile development methodologies required. ? Experience with Amazon RDS and MSSQL required. ? Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL strongly preferred. ? Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications. ? Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL. ? Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding. ? Familiarity with programming APIs. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.<br />  <br /> •Responsible for data analysis and database management. Involved in maintenance, enhancement, designing of data dictionaries, physical and logical database models, and performance tuning. Knowledge of the utilities and production tools used for data storage management to support the Application Team. Coordinates physical changes to computer databases; codes, tests, and implements physical database, applying knowledge of data base management system. Designs logical and physical databases reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical data base (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method).<br /> •Establishes physical database parameters. Uses structured query language (SQL) to define database objects using database definition language (DDL) and control access to database objects using data control language (DCL).  Language descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions. Calculates optimum values for database parameters, such as amount of computer memory to be used by database, following manuals and using calculator. Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items, such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data. Specifies which users can access data bases and what data can be accessed by user. Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database.<br /> •Enters SQL to create production data base. Uses database utility programs and 3rd party utilities to monitor database performance, such as distribution of records and amount of available memory. Directs programmers and analysts to make changes to data base management system. Reviews and corrects programs. Answers user questions. Confers with coworkers to determine impact of data base changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to data base. Modifies data base programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning. Workers typically specialize in one or more types of data base management systems. Providing assistance in the planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, and ensuring that the conceptual and design phases of new applications are consistent with the structural parameters within the database environment.<br /> •Evaluates users' requests for new data elements and systems, incorporates them into the existing shared data environment, and provides technical assistance. Performs logical and physical data modeling, designs relational database models, and creates physical data models from logical data models. Performs security recovery procedures. Determines and implements database search strategies and storage requirements. Maintains data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and sets standards for use of data dictionary.
