Reporting to the Senior IT Operations Manager, Database Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and administering all Microsoft SQL database servers. They will also be involved in the planning and development of the database as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.
Experience migrating legacy databases to newer versions and Microsoft Azure. Establish best practices and policies to maximize efficiency of productions servers as well as the SDLC (software development life cycle).
Perform Microsoft SQL database administration including software installations/configurations for SQL Server 2005 to 2016 including SSDT, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and peripheral features/products such as log shipping, mirroring, and maintenance task (DBCC, backups, Index maintenance).
Duties include developing and enforcing database standards and best practices including performance, security, monitoring policies and procedures along with researching improvements to enhance overall system performance. Experience with policy based management in SQL Server is a plus.
Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Ensure all database data is protected by backups and meets the business's RTO/RPO requirements
Ensures data can be completely restored in disaster recovery sitation.
Work closely with development team on the most efficient database designs (tables, datatypes, stored procedures, functions, etc.)
Ability to maintain automated SQL Server installs that have been built in PowerShell.
Implement and configure SQL Server monitoring to minimize false alarms and maximize preventative actions
Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity and performance issues
Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.
Communicating regularly with infrastructure, applications, security and operational teams to ensure database integrity and security
Capacity planning work (on Production, UAT, DEV and DR environments);
Manage project tasks, timelines, and communication
Setting up, testing and managing BC/DR capabilities
Create and maintain documentation of SQL systems and environments
