Job Description:

The Leidos Civil NISC III program has an opening for a Database Administrator in Oklahoma City, OK to support the Federal Aviation Administration. The Database Administrator will provide support for assigned Structured Query Language (SQL) database systems; web servers (Internet & Intranet), supporting application servers defined below and related query/analysis tools employed to maintain and support the SQL database.

This includes ful l -spectrum, continuous support to the design, engineering, development, installation, training, maintenance, administration, and o n -going user support activities involved with the implementation and operation of these systems, as requested. Specifically the Database Administrator will:

  • Complete an initial Task Work Plan

  • Support assigned database servers, web servers, application servers, and related query/analysis

  • Support of the design, documentation, engineering, development, installation, training, maintenance, administration, and o n -going SQL support activities

  • Support the design, development, testing, integration, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL server databases

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree and 4+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualification:

Previous experience supporting the FAA.

Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs, reviewing service related reports (e.g. database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems. This MS SQL Server DBA role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and implementing changes on production systems, and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively. During your interview you will be asked to discuss a project or particular piece of technology that excites you. We will ask you questions on that project or piece of technology in order to get a better understanding of the depth of your knowledge. Here's what you will do: * Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems. * Install, configure, and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. * Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end. * Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes. * Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement. * Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours. * Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business's recovery point objectives. * Test backups to ensure we can meet the business's recovery time objectives and to verify backup integrity. * Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms. * Provide 24x7 on-call support and willing to work in mission critical situations. Here's what you bring to the table: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience. Required: * Experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server. * Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems. * Experience with backups, restores and recovery models. * Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server. * Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts. * Good communication and documentation skills. * Industrious and diligent team player. * Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment. * Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.
