ACI is seeking a Junior Database Administrator to provide the organizational support necessary to meet the needs of a high profile project. Job location is Washington DC. The Jr. Database Administrator will be responsible for testing, implementing, maintaining and controlling the organizations databases across multiple platforms and technologies (e.g., physical, relational and object oriented) in an Azure cloud environment. Ability to apply comprehensive functional and technical knowledge and programming skills in a team setting to ensure data quality of the highest level and for problem resolution is key.Job Description:
  • Perform disciplined, auditable execution of established data warehouse ETL (extract/transform/load) programs and refresh procedures
  • Execute disciplined, recurring manual data extractions, downloads, and pre-processing of FTP data files as inputs to datamart
  • Test and implement new releases to data mart
  • Contribute to the development of new methods, procedures, processes or systems and understand the impact of these changes.
  • Provide support and expertise in investigation and resolution of performance related issues for warehousing environments.
  • Proactively monitor and remedy data quality failures in recurring data mart ETL and refresh processes
  • Provide support in installing & upgrading database software and resolving database software problems
  • Perform evaluations of potential tools & utilities
  • Automate database tasks via scripting or through the use of tools
  • Proactively configure, monitor, and review statistics for errors, capacity and performance issues
  • Tune and troubleshoot software & database performance issues
Qualifications:
  • College degree in computer science from accredited university,
  • Basic knowledge and experience in SQL Server programming is mandatory
  • Some experience in other programming languages such as Python, Java, PL/SQL, .net, SASis highly preferred the more languages the better
  • Background and prior experience in working with databases in data warehousing environments is desirable

VIEW JOBS 9/30/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-12-29T00:00 <p>Overview</p><p>JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities of this position will be to be the sole database administrator for a large Washington DC-based organization of approximately 500 users, 100 total servers, and 10-15 SQL servers running mostly SQL 2012 and SQL 2014. <br><br> These servers are hosted in a mix of an Amazon Web Services environment and on-premise on Microsoft HyperV. Applications running on SQL include Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics. High Availability is in use via SQL mirroring with a witness server. <br><br> This organization is also starting a data warehousing initiative and will need the support of this position to offer recommendations, manage integrations, and to help execute this initiative. This position will be part of a team of ~10 individuals providing IT services to this customer, will have an adjunct team of an additional~10 individuals to provide services in a shared role, all as part of a 90+ person IT organization.</p><p>Additionally, this position will also be responsible for helping to design a business practice within designDATA around database administration. As a large IT Managed Services Provider, designDATA wants to expand our offerings to include database administration. This includes designing what is included in this service offering, setting standards for how we would deliver this service, how to ensure the service is profitable, and what additional staffing and skillsets will be required to deliver this service.</p><p>Responsibilities</p><p>Position will also be responsible for helping to design a business practice within designDATA around database administration. As a large IT Managed Services Provider, designDATA wants to expand our offerings to include database administration. This includes designing what is included in this service offering, setting standards for how we would deliver this service, how to ensure the service is profitable, and what additional staffing and skillsets will be required to deliver this service.</p><p>Qualifications</p><p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p><ul><li><p>Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline or three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field.</p></li><li><p>5+ years working in SQL database administration (including SQL 2012 and 2014)</p></li><li><p>3+ years being a lead / sole SQL database administrator in a complex database environment</p></li><li><p>Experience with configuring SQL best practices (performance, high availability, security, backup and recovery)</p></li><li><p>Experience with SQL licensing and cost management</p></li><li><p>Experience with SSRS and reporting a plus</p></li><li><p>Experience with Oracle Databases</p></li><li><p>Experience as a DBA with AWS Cloud databases are a bonus.</p></li><li><p>Valid driver's license, insurance and reliable personal vehicle</p></li></ul><p>WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.</p><p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual will be subject to sedentary work with the majority of hours in a professional office environment and will need to be able to quickly respond to a change in work demands. <br><br> The individual is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal.
