The Database Administrator 3 supports KNA databases to maintain and improve their stability and reliability and responds to and resolves alerts, problems and incidents. The Administrator must be able to execute periodical and on-demand maintenance tasks and deploy database changes within established standards, processes and policies. The level 3 Administrator is expected to be able to work independently and provide guidance to more junior level members of the team, recognize larger problems proactively and work with other teams/team members to resolve them and mentor other database administrators and be cross trained in other technologies used at KNA.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide Operational support in the management of databases based on
MSSQL from version 2014 thru 2019 on
Physical or VMWare, EC2, Azure VM
WSFC clusters and AO clusters
Azure SQL
SQL Server Replication
MSSQL SSIS and SSRS setup
MongoDB on Atlas platform
Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and alerts, including escalation to providers as needed
Follow and enforce policies and procedures set by the DBA team
Support the deployment of code and execution of complex tasks on KNA databases, including,but not limited to Application deployments, O/S and databases engines patches and upgrades, Data refreshes in non-production environments and security changes
Provide operational KPIs to management and Database Engineering team
Maintain and upgrade DBA tools and settings (proactively or by request) of enterprise monitoring tools
Use/Maintain documentation/runbooks related to periodical tasks, like upgrades, environment refresh tool, security changes
Engage and cooperate with the Database Engineer team to improve processes and procedures
Cooperate with vendors to optimize their work in KNA when applicable
Complete on-call rotations and work outside regular business hours and on weekends
Hybrid Schedule: 3 days remote / 2 days in office
30-day notification period preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters in IT or equivalent experience
7 years of operational support on MSSQL in multiple versions and platforms
5 years of operational support on MongoDB
MSSQL (see details in primary responsibilities)
MongoDB (Atlas)
Operational skills required for the position:
Senior level working knowledge for Set up, optimization, troubleshooting and support of the DB platforms.
Experience of Large high-availability production environment
Experience with AWS console management and configuration related to the related platform
Experience with the Atlas platform
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Platform beyond specific requirements
Experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python or comparable scripting languages.
Familiar with Agile methodologies, and use of tools like Google workspace, Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow
Familiar with SolarWinds (monitoring and DPA) and Redgate software
