H2 Performance Consulting (H2), a high-growth, technology-enablement firm, is currently seeking a Database Administrator to support our government client in the San Diego area. The ideal candidate will have 8 years minimum Oracle Database Administration experience.

The Database Administrator responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining support to enterprise databases including multiple Oracle Databases.

  • Coordinating with software teams to perform the following:

  • Maintaining, sustaining and upgrading current databases.

  • Building/creating new databases.

  • Troubleshooting database issues.

  • Documenting databases.

  • Generating complex queries and reports in support of software development efforts.

  • Performing database tuning, software patches, upgrades and database monitoring.

  • Implementing database standards and support policy procedures.

  • Participating in the development of, application, and database design standards to ensure consistency across applications.

  • Participating in development of the information technology contingency operations plans.

  • Participating in the development and execution of applicable portions of the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).

  • Maintaining detailed database design documents, including products required for system Assessment and Authorization (A&A).

  • Ensuring accreditation requirements are met.

  • Perform patch updates and vulnerability remediation

  • Performing STIG reviews and remediation.

  • Performing database restores to validate restore procedures function properly.

  • Providing periodic review and comment on existing database policy documentation.

  • Conducting regular compliance checks and preparing reports by the information assurance staff; implementing required changes, and ensuring that databases comply with policy.

  • Diagnosing database problems; running backups, maintaining security, configuring systems, administering database and performing database file maintenance.

  • Supporting analyses and planning for anticipated changes in capacity requirements.

  • Coordinating data migration.

  • Participating in technical working groups.

  • Providing on-call support; responding to submitted trouble tickets.

  • Systems analysis, design, programming, integration solutions, testing, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and system documentation.

  • Corresponding with product vendors and other external technical support teams.

  • Collaborating with team members to collect requirements and derive configuration solutions to emerging requirements.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Oracle Databases and Java in an enterprise hosting environment

  • CompTIA Security + CE Certification

  • Oracle Database version 11g, 12c, or 12c R2 Administration Certified Associate or higher

  • Position requires Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF) compliance IAW DOD Directive 8140 series, DOD 8570.01-M series, SECNAV M-5239 and NETC Instruction 5239 series requirements as an IAM or IAT Level 2.

  • Security Clearance: Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active Secret security clearance at the time of application.

Experience with Oracle RAC, Golden Gate, Data guard configurations and Oracle High Availability best practices. Experience with PCI compliance, TDE knowledge and security best practices. Experience with SQL, MySQL, Couchbase, MongoDB or other NoSQL technologies. Experience and comfort working in a team-oriented, fast-paced, collaborative setting. Experience in scripting (Bash, Perl or related). Strong Linux (Unix) skills. Experience working in Active-Active environments is plus.
