The KBRwyle Software and IT Solutions Sector is looking for a SQL Database Designer/Administrator to join our Vector software development team.Vector is a powerful, next-generation logistics analysis web-based application which provides recommendations for management to address issues which degrade fleet readiness, increased operation/maintenance cost, forecasting supply requirements and management of asset availability.

The successful candidate will provide administration and support services including the installation, operation and maintenance, performance monitoring and support, backup and recovery, security management, and insuring the availability of the SQL databases and SQL Server operating system. The primary responsibilities of the candidate include:

  • Install upgrades, service packs, and security updates for SQL Server database environments to protect data from intrusion and maximize system stability.

  • Maximize the uptime of SQL Server databases supporting the Enterprise Production, QA and Test/Dev environments through system monitoring, performance tuning, and routine maintenance tasks such as index rebuilds, file compressions, statistical updates, and database consistency checks.

  • Manage the storage environments for the SQL Server databases, including optimal sizing, monitoring space, requesting additional storage, and providing growth statistics.

  • Create and execute SQL Server backup and recovery policies, and maintain integrity and reliability of access to information.

  • Perform routine backup and recovery testing, including testing and documenting recovery scenarios.

  • Manage database users and security.

  • Work with development teams to assist in overall database design, helping developers tune queries, assigning proper indexes, and aiding developers in the creation of triggers and stored procedures. Import and export data to and from the SQL Server database(s).

  • Create and maintain detailed operating procedures, configuration documentation, and maintenance plans for the SQL Server environment.

  • Responsible for SQL Server database performance monitoring and capacity planning.



A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related technical field with five (5) years of experience. An Additional four (4) years of experience may be substituted for the degree.

Clearance Requirement: US Citizen with a Secret DoD security clearance or higher

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge of Transact-SQL programming utilizing scripts and functions for SQL, data manipulation

Knowledge of building stored procedures and various database join types

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Understand Entity-Relationship and coding using ER diagrams



Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Database Administrator 2014 and/or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): Microsoft SQL Server 2014, Implementation and Maintenance

Knowledge of ASP.NET, C#, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, LINQ and jQuery a plus

Experience working in an Agile environment

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Provide support for an Enterprise and Sandbox web application environment. Uses established fact-finding approaches, knowledge of pertinent work processes and procedures, and familiarity with Information Assurance compliancy, computer programming practices, system software, and computer hardware. Essential Job Functions: * Managing the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all Windows IT systems * Recommends upgrades, patches, new applications and equipment in continuous improvement of the systems * Managing web applications using Internet Information Services (IIS) and troubleshoots application errors * Maintains a Windows Server environment and reviews server logs for application, security, and system related issues and recommends resolutions for these issues * Maintain SAN and network attached storage devices * Performs, monitors, and validates system backups using Acronis Backup or similar backup software * Develops and defines solutions, assesses the scope of effort to implement solutions and documents solution proposals * Conduct tasks related to IA compliance to include use of network and system tools to ascertain the security posture and efficiencies of the servers on the network * Perform Windows Server evaluation and analysis for DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guide (SRG) compliance utilizing current DISA approved Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) software * Analyzes system vulnerabilities using SCAP and ACAS scans and identifies areas of non-compliance by using Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) * Perform Windows Server vulnerability scans using ACAS/SCCVI per Program of Record (POR) or DoD directives * Configure, update, and maintain ACAS/SCCVI with latest audits and signatures TRAVEL REQUIRED - AT LEAST ONE WEEK PER QUARTER. Education Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Computer Networks and Security, or Cyber Security; * A minimum of three (3) years out of the prior five (5) years of experience in Information Systems Management and Information Assurance (IA). * Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and appropriate experience with DoD system security and information assurance (IA) policy and procedures is required Allowable Substitution: * Associates degree and five (5) years of additional experience in management and information systems development will be considered equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. * An additional postgraduate degree in a business, management, engineering or related discipline will be considered equivalent to four (4) years of experience.
