About this position:

Aptiv Connected Services is seeking a hardworking, knowledgeable and detail oriented Database Administrator. This person will interact with software engineers and data analysts to ensure the overall application design is optimal. The successful candidate will be team-oriented and able to take project from inception to completion with moderate direction.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for administering and maintaining all Database Server instances

  • Troubleshoot database-related application performance issues and recommend solutions accordingly

  • Design and implement strategies for operational support including monitoring, performance analysis, load testing, debugging, security and backup of existing systems

  • Work with development teams to optimize database design and usage

  • Take full ownership of all Database Server activities including deployments, providing operational and developmental support

  • Create and test disaster recovery plans

  • Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, restore, recovery, migration, etc.

  • Prepare environmental and procedural documentation

Minimal Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience with Relational Databases and optimization.

  • Experience with high availability, replication and clustering for MySQL and MongoDB

  • Knowledge of database best practices in MySQL and MongoDB

  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements

  • Provision MySQL and MongoDB instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations

  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases

  • Detailed understanding of MySQL internals, including optimization, configuration, replication and partitioning

  • Experience architecting data models

  • Experience with a scripting language required to automate tasks

  • Experience with AWS/Azure a plus

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Excellent organizational, writing and documentation skills

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently
