Provides a high level of support in the development, implementation, and administration of City wide physical databases.

Education & Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
A minimum of five years of experience in database administration in Microsoft SQL or Oracle environments is required.
A minimum of five years of experience in database design.
A minimum of one year working with clustered database environments and supporting high-availability.
An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to any combination of the following tasks:
Implements and maintains physical databases in a distributed computing environment.
Implements organizational data backup and restore processes and systems.
Establishes of organizational data standards.
Performs data modeling and database design.
Performs data warehouse design and implementation.
Evaluates and make recommendations on new database methodologies or implementation strategies.
Consults with Information Technology teams to develop application installation and maintenance procedures
Monitors application systems performance and recommends methods for improving efficiency
Interfaces with users, consultants, technical teams and vendors for maximum guidance in determining the most appropriate selection
Maintains security and integrity controls of the database, and database software tools
Participates in a rotation for on call support during non-business hours.
