HII-TSD, Integrated Mission Solutions Group (Camber Corporation) was recently awarded a multi-year contract supporting the United States Postal Service (USPS) and is pro-actively seeking Database Administrators to work out of their client's field office.

Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):

  • Under general direction, provides highly technical expertise and guidance in the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of database management systems (DBMS)

  • Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods

  • Evaluates and recommends available DBMS products after matching requirements with system capabilities

  • Defines required database administration policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines

  • Prepares and delivers presentations on DBMS concepts

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is preferred

  • All levels of experience accepted

  • Special credentials (licenses and/or certifications) may be required at the Task Order level on a case-specific basis


  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

  • Must be able to obtain and keep a USPS Sensitive Clearance

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or have a Green Card and have been living in the U.S. for at least the last five years

  • Must not have traveled outside of the United States for more than 180 days in the last five years

  • All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirements

Job Title: DBA III Location: St. Louis, MO Requisition Number: 18-1449 Position Summary: Designs, develops and maintains databases in support of Tapestry and customer applications, software products and services. Works as part of a small team to develop software supporting supply chain management forecasting, tracking and reporting. The primary function of this position is to provide experienced DBA design and programming, troubleshooting and analysis in support of new software development. Collaborates with software engineers, architects and technical specialists to identify proper hardware and software implementations throughout all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for complex applications and software programs. Develops, plans and establishes database performance baselines. Monitors performance trends to identify and correct problems. A combination of 'in-office' at customer site and virtual work is available. Essential Functions: * Designs, implements and supports operational backups and recovery systems or procedures by working with the customer to meet requirements and align with corporate disaster recovery guidelines. Maintains backup documentation. Continuously monitors successful completion of backup jobs and validates database integrity. Uses discretion, foresight and risk management in determining appropriate backup and recovery methods based on customer needs. May deviate from set procedures in order to deal with situations that are not covered under procedure. * Works independently with customers and/or database modelers and architects in support of critical business systems. Uses independent judgment to plan and develop database design. Designs and creates Data Definition Language for the creation of database objects. Manages the configuration control process. * Creates, plans and schedules data migrations that maintain data integrity after transfer from one environment to another. Evaluates options to perform data migration and uses discretion in selecting best method/utility to perform database migration or archiving of objects and/or data to agree upon destination. * Works independently to maintain business critical databases and uses judgment to determine the appropriate database management functions (e.g., maintain space availability, rebuilds indexes, file cleanup, runs utilities to check database integrity) to ensure reliability and optimum capacity and application performance. Proactively monitors database status and recommends course of action. * Teams with appropriate technical organizations to evaluate needs and recommend proper hardware and software solutions to ensure database integrity, optimal system performance and security. Independently develops customized implementation plan. Coordinates, installs and tests software, upgrades and patches, using industry best practices. * Performs other duties as assigned. Typical Education and/or Experience Qualifications: Technical bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Skills: * Experience with relational databases, SQL, DB design and tuning (eg. Oracle DB and MSSQL.) * Experience with ETL tools and techniques.
