Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)

This is a multi-level posting. This position is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the database structures.

This position conducts analysis, creates system specifications, develops, tests and implements engineering, scientific and business applications, operating systems, and file/database servers. Utilizes existing or new technology in the automation of processes. Evaluates software packages and provides recommendations to management.

Designs, codes, tests documents, implements and maintain database utilities. (30%)

Performs database analysis and design reviews under supervision. (20%)

Assists in the research and fact-finding to develop or modify database structures. (20%)

Provides support for vendor-developed database implementation and periodic maintenance releases as required under supervision. (10%)

Provides technical input to assist in development of project planning under supervision. (10%)

Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (10%)

Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related technical field or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

A minimum of two years additional directly related technical experience is required.

The Database Administrator 1 position requires educational experience in database administration or systems analysis on one of the following or any combination: Oracle 11, MS SQL 2008, DB2 for mainframe v9, DB2 LUW v9 products.

The Database Administrator 2 position requires three years of related experience in database administration or systems analysis on one of the following or any combination: Oracle 11, MS SQL 2008, DB2 for mainframe v9, DB2 LUW v9 products.

The Database Administrator 3 position requires five years of related experience in database administration or systems analysis on one of the following or any combination: Oracle 11, MS SQL 2008, DB2 for mainframe v9, DB2 LUW v9 products.

Basic understanding of how to do performance tuning of enterprise level applications.

Effective oral and written communication skills utilizing your ability to work with other database administrators to learn and grow in your abilities.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

The senior-level Teradata DBA is responsible for the design, development, build, and the on-going monitoring & support of a large scale multi-terabyte enterprise data warehouse databases. You will consult with and advise management and clients on high impact data or database management issues, and influencing strategic direction. In this role you will handle and lead various large-scale or complex database management activities including one or more of the following: designing complex physical databases; leading complex data modeling, performance tuning, mapping, integration, and capacity planning efforts; developing management policies, procedures and standards; and business requirements identification, analysis and development. You will also provide mentoring, guidance and general oversight to less experienced staff in a variety of database design, administration and/or modeling activities. Additional responsibilities include traditional database administration tasks and providing rotating on-call production support.
