Database Administrator needed for a contract opportunity with SOC's client to work in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
This family is responsible for performing database administration in support of the Database Management Systems (DBMS) applications. Specifically able to demonstrate operational experience with database schemas, data relationships, and an understanding in methods of application triggers, external Java functions, scripting, stored procedures, and security and integrity controls. This position is not suited for a developer but rather an experienced DBA in the area of system and application support. Additionally, the candidate must understand the Software Development Lifecycle and the supporting software necessary to execute change management.
Seeking a self-starter database administrator to join our team and begin an exciting and challenging career. The candidate should be able to perform at a Tier 2 level DBA resolver as well as have the initiative to learn and provide innovative ideas/solutions. The candidate must understand the Software Development Lifecycle and the supporting software necessary to integrate configuration management.
Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and/or create various scripts in order to support nightly batch and automated system tasks.
Perform command line and GUI interactive troubleshooting techniques in Linux.
Understand Linux Operating Systems to administer DB COTS software.
Establish proper user groups, credentials, and trusts utilizing Active Directory.
Configure new systems to include developing, maintaining, and configuring deployment scripts.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot the initial setup and interfaces for all DB systems. This includes the initial installation of all of our Java WebSphere based applications.
Problem determination and resolution by inspecting and troubleshooting Linux Operating Systems, DB2 logs, NetIQ Access Manager, and understand how they all integrate into a holistic solution.
Support internal program teams and our client in problem determination and resolution of Java based applications.
Perform parameter/system configuration changes in order to support the troubleshooting of extensive/complex SQL.
Collaborate with stakeholders in support of DB/System production defects.
Provide application support and troubleshooting while working independently with Program staff.
Qualifications
Must have a working experience in IBM Data Studio and/or Control Center to perform database administration.
Experience with IBM DB2 and SQL.
Experience with Linux/Websphere system administration
Experience with IBM Rational ClearCase/ClearQuest
Experience with Pega
Demonstrated understanding of Java, Perl, and PowerShell with a plus understanding Korn, Bash, & Ant.
NetIQ Access Manager experience
IBM Rational Application Developer experience a plus
