The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the Installation, maintenance, security, and administration of databases throughout the organization. These tasks include centralized management of servers. All databases must comply with organizational security standards, have controls in place to prevent breach attempts, and provide alerts for maintenance and system issues. The DBA will maintain backups and work with business continuity teams to ensure the high availability of data in the case of disaster. A DBA will manage projects with management oversight.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related discipline or equivalent level of experience and education.
Industry recognized database administrator certification.
Experience working with end users and project managers to translate business needs into well-designed and documented database systems.
Experience with the following technologies and practices: Microsoft SQL Server, Data Mirroring, Data Warehousing, SQL Centralized Management Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Policy-based Management, T-SQL, SQL Server Integration Services, Database design, Always On High Availability, and normalization.
Setup and maintain SQL maintenance jobs.
Provide backup and restore support for SQL databases.
Build and monitor SQL alerts.
Plan for future SQL Server scaling.
Architect and administer high availability SQL technologies such as Always On Availability Groups.
Troubleshoot SQL Server performance issues.
Perform advance database maintenance task such as query tuning, locating missing indexes, optimizing queries and files configuration.
Build disaster recovery documentation.
Work with other teams and administrators to apply SQL patches.
Able to read, comprehend, and teach complicated and detailed instructions in order to plan and perform job duties.
Able to integrate and interpret data from diverse sources in order to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve Information Systems and communication related problems.
Able to meet deadlines, to plan effectively, pay close attention to details, and follow-up with the customer in a timely fashion.
Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
