Data Warehouse/Etl Developer

The Data Warehouse / ETL Developer provides technical expertise in Design and develop data warehouse solutions to meet customer business functions and requirements, by working closely with the data architect, data analyst and business users as needed. Estimate the effort for projects, change requests and enhancements. Responsible for enhancement and maintenance of the existing application. Also, responsible for gathering the requirements, analyzing the functional specification, enhancement, development, testing and implementation of the code in the existing Applications

Duties:

• Develops and enhances data warehouse environment which include data design, database architecture, metadata and repository creation.
• Be responsible for enhancement and maintenance of the existing application.
• Responsible for gathering the requirements, analyzing the functional specification, enhancement, development, testing and implementation of the code in the existing system.
• Provide direction and guidance to team members, reviews data loaded into data ware house for accuracy.
• Responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of enterprise data warehouse system and corresponding data marts.
• Trouble shoots and tunes existing data warehouse applications.
• Conducts research into new data warehouse applications and determines viability for adoption.
• Assists in establishing development standards.
• Provide guidance to existing team members new to BI applications and function as mentor to junior developers/architects/analysts
• Work with business users and executives to gather requirement for reporting needs and dashboards.
• Evaluates existing subject areas stored in the data warehouse.
• Incorporates existing subject areas into an enterprise model.
• Create new or enhanced components of the data warehouse.
• The responsibilities also include trouble shooting application issues and /or data issues as needed.
• The senior Data warehouse architect responsible for production support (may include on-call duties in a 24x7 environment) on current and new projects.
• Conduct research and perform high quality solutions that promote efficiency and enterprise-wide standardization.
• Must demonstrate the ability to mediate and bridge relationship between technical and business stake holders without compromising the needs of the solution users and strategic goals of the organization

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS (Special Skill Set, Abilities, Knowledge):

• Expertise in software development life cycle (SDLC) and experience in Data analysis, design, development and implementation of Client/Server & Data Warehousing applications on windows and UNIX platforms.
• Experience in using ETL tools and handling data migration assignments.
• Experienced with reporting and Business Intelligence tools such as Cognos, Tableau and Actuate.
• Experience in administrating cognos and tableau applications.
• Experience in writing Shell Scripts in UNIX environment.
• Experience in writing and implementation of the triggers, stored procedures, functions, and packages at database level using PL/SQL
• Experience with Agile Software Development methodologies.
• Experience in Data Modeling, Multidimensional Modeling and involved in creation of Star Schema and Snowflake schema, Normalization, Physical and Logical data Modeling.
• Extensive experience in integration of various data bases and data sources like Oracle, Flat files and MS access.
• Strong judgment, decision making, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Work independently with minimal supervision to deliver business outcome.
• Experience in using tools ETL ODI and Data stage, APEX ords, Reporting tools IBM Cognos, Tableau, Actuate, CA Workload Automation Workstation, Oracle SQL Developer, Toad, Microsoft Products, scheduling tools CA WA workstation, and Control-M.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Years’ Experience, Certificates):

Bachelor’s degree (or its foreign degree equivalent) in Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

10+ years of IT experience with experience using Data Warehousing Technologies.

Good to have Certification in BI, ETLTools and Oracle DB
