General Summary/Overview Statement:
The Research Patient Data Registry (RPDR) is a centralized clinical data registry designed for facilitating research across the Partners HealthCare enterprise. Our team is focused on the consolidation of data from a variety of hospital systems into an organized format that can be easily queried by investigators from across the organization. We provide tools to search this data as well as process workflows for the dissemination of clinical data for IRB approved studies. Our repository contains over 3 billion individual data points on over 7 million patients. Our team handles over 30,000 query requests from over 1500 researchers annually, including the creation and delivery of over 3000 identified data sets. The total value of grants that depend on data delivered from the RPDR for their associated research projects is estimated to be over $1 billion.
Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Operations, we are looking for an analyst who is self-motivated, who demonstrates great attention to detail and can work as part of a small, but very efficient group of fellow analysts, developers, and research-based teams.
The incumbent's primary responsibilities will focus on building ETL programs for multiple complex data projects that are being integrated into the Partners RPDR data warehousespanning over 14 million patient records. S/he would participate in the design, development, testing, implementation, and on-going support and maintenance of new and existing clinical interfaces. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to understand and document source functionality and data points, system dependencies, integration requirements, and end consumer use cases. This role will be interacting with analytical, development, and operational team members across the team and organization.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate should have prior experience working with clinical data, reading specifications, understanding of processes, and should have an understanding of healthcare data delivery. The person in this role will be responsible for developing the requirements for data ingestion and execution of the ETL process. This position requires working knowledge of healthcare data and strong familiarity with databases/data warehousing, SQL, ETL development, and QA testing.
Work cross-functionally with stakeholders from within and outside of the Partners HealthCare network to scope data for ingestion into the data repository.
Develop project scope, specifications, and critical path actions; participate and, at times, lead in the exploration, evaluation, and design of technical solutions.
Perform in-depth analysis of source data and participate in the development and execution of ETL processes to bring data into the data warehouse.
Create and execute data validation and testing processes as necessary.
Ensure completion of all projects in accordance with an established project timeline.
Coordinate multiple complex tasks to completion independently/with minimal guidance.
Make recommendations for improving processes and continually work to improve the quality and integrity of the data.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and accurately document problems and their probable causes and work closely with developers to identify, test, and implement solutions.

Performs all other duties as required
Bachelor's Degree Required.
3-5 years of analytical experience working with complex data from enterprise applications.
Expertise in creating and executing detail-oriented test plans/cases and related documentation.
Familiarity working with large datasets and relational databases including SQL and Microsoft Access; familiarity with HL7 interfaces.
Ability to work with developers, data analysts, and key stakeholders to facilitate the ETL process development.
Understand the flow of data through complex architecture with demonstrated ability to identify issues, hypothesize solutions, and see them through to completion
Knowledge of hospital and clinical information systems, familiarity with electronic health records is ideal.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare/medical concepts; knowledge of standard code sets such as ICD9, ICD10, CPT, SNOMED, LOINC preferred.
Strong PC skills required, including MS Office suite.
Strong SQL skills required.
Strong, demonstrable analytical/problem-solving skills and detail-oriented.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, taking initiative to outline work tasks and deliverables, including prioritizing multiple tasks at the same time.
Uses rigorous logic and testing methodologies to understand root causes of problems
