The Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, & Planning serves as a centralized data resource to the university community by providing strategic, timely, accurate information and research service to assist institutional planning and assessment, inform sound decision making, and enhance institutional effectiveness.
Description of Work
The primary purpose of this grant-funded position is to gather, edit, analyze, and report data/information for a variety of research as well as to independently manage the planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating research and educational programs via tableau, Power BI and other visual analytics platforms. Publishes data visualizations related to a number of critical areas, including enrollment and student success.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software or other student information management systems
Well-developed skills in at least one commonly used statistical software application such as SAS, R, Stata, or SPSS.
Experience with Tableau or other visual analytics platforms.
Experience with multiple phases of the social science research process (e.g., survey and protocol design, qualitative and quantitative data collection, data management, data processing, and data analyses).
Experience in managing multiple tasks, timelines, and responsibilities.
Experience working successfully in collaborative research teams.
Demonstrated evidence of computer skills, such as office productivity and collaboration software (e.g., Excel, Word, Google Docs suite), databases (e.g., Access), and data analysis (e.g., SPSS).
Evidence of effective oral and communication skills, research writing, reporting, and presentation skills
Minimum Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Statistics, or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; 2-3 years of experience in Institutional Research or business application consulting and development.
Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, information technology, or management information systems; or a master's degree in a non-technical field with two or more years of relevant work experience; Knowledge of and experience with Banner student data system, including the use of forms and creation of views.
