Position Summary:
The Data Steward is responsible for administrative oversight of the Hartford Healthcare's Master Provider Database (MPD). Responsibilities include: data base management, data entry, mining, analyzing, and accessing, organizing, formatting and presenting data for the purposes of ensuring integrity and optimal performance of the Master Provider Database to support all related business functions. The employee functions as the primary administrator to provide data support in performance improvement, and quality improvement activities. Analyzes end user issues and provides business and technical support. Adheres to system and departmental compliance policies, and any and all applicable laws and regulations. Collaborates with Information Technology Services to ensure optimal performance of the platform. Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Responsibilities:
Accountabilities include: data entry, report development, preparation and routine system management. Oversees data collection and secured data access. Participates in planning and standardization of processes to improve production or workflow. Provides recommended definitions (business terms) of data in MPD and maintains Provider Domain Business Glossary.
Coordinate with Information Technology Services (ITS) to develop technical updates/add-ons for the database including working with data consumers to understand provider data, coordination with ITS to resolve delivery issues or delay.
Participates in the Steering Committee and related teams to investigate/evaluate new data sources for MPD. Support the MPD Lead and the Working Group Committee by scheduling meetings, and providing requested reports to support agenda items.
Facilitate implementation of new data sources and distribution channels.
Facilitates user group meetings for issue resolution, providing alternative solutions to problems and proactively enhancing application design and implementation. Participates in project management as assigned.
Sets user rights and participates in training and development of users as assigned.
Implement and monitor compliance with data standards, policies, processes and business rules approved by the Steering Committee.
Provides subject matter expertise on data quality management and associated data cleansing activities, compliance with data standards, policies and procedures. Monitor MPD Data Quality (DQ) by reviewing DQ reports and coordinating with source system data stewards to address the gaps.
Provides customer response and updates according to current policies and procedures.
"On Call" responsibilities as required.
Reports To: Director, Analytics Education: Bachelors degree in business, computer science or related
Experience: 5 years in office work involving use of database. Hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.
Understanding of Provider related business processes and Provider data elements.
Experience in data analysis and understanding of common data quality issues
Project management skills to include process improvement, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
Open to understanding new tools and technology (Informatica MDM, IDQ, etc.)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
Understanding of data analysis and strong analytical skills.
Knowledge of SQL is a plus.
Strong Excel skills, including the ability to organize data, enter formulas, and create reports
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong general technology knowledge
Proven ability to provide support and train multiple users with varying needs
Proven experience in conflict resolution
Strong attention to detail and advanced organizational skills
Proven ability to handle multiple tasks at once
Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and sound judgement
Travel within 30 miles of Hartford area
