Harley-Davidson Financial Services (HDFS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harley-Davidson, Inc., offers a wide range of financial products and services to motorcycle enthusiasts and Harley-Davidson dealerships. Chicago is HDFS' corporate headquarters and serves as the home office for employees who work in Accounting, Business Intelligence, Corporate Strategy, Credit and Risk Management, Marketing, Sales, and Securitization. Job Summary

The Data Steward Lead role is responsible for management and governance of core internal and external analytical data for the organization. In this role, you will help provide 'fit for purpose' data to enable timely generation of sound end-to-end business insight that will ultimately drive improved H-D profit and performance. Communicates with stakeholders and subject matter experts and leads project teams (business and technical) to ensure adherence to project deadlines. Proactively mitigate risk in master data through knowledge of data requirements and execution of proper analysis. Exercise use of specialized knowledge in order to continuously improve data quality, integrity, accuracy, and consistency in the systems, while monitoring and resolving interface issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interpret and translate data inputs from multiple internal and external sources into an integrated analytics environment

  • Create, maintain and monitor data

  • Build, manage, and curate a data catalog with metadata to enable stakeholders to discover data assets

  • Responsible for understanding end-to-end data flows and identifying data dependencies in support of delivery, release, and change management

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure data needs and requirements are met

  • Develop data business rules, standards, metrics, and processes

  • Ensure data is compliant with defined standards, policies and quality requirements

  • Validate and measure data quality, integrity, accuracy and consistency in the source and consuming systems and monitor and resolve interface issues

  • Provide input to stakeholders as it relates to data management and governance

  • Educate stakeholders on analytical data requirements and system options and impacts

  • Contribute to detailed discussions concerning data requirements, architecture, and strategy decisions

  • Demonstrate a refined knowledge of industry data management concepts, practices, and procedures and have developed specific areas of expertise within the discipline

  • Perform required activities according to department procedures, but demonstrate the insight necessary to suggest improvements based on the situation

  • Exercise independent judgment and attempts to address issues prior to seeking guidance from senior staff members

Education Specifications

A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is highly preferred; course material or focus in Market Research or Insights is ideal.

Experience Requirements

This role typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience:

  • Able to apply knowledge of best practices in master data, systems and interfaces related to Analytics and Business Intelligence infrastructure, product development, materials management and manufacturing processes

  • Solid understanding of key DBMS platforms like SQL Server, Oracle and DB2

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret data governance requirements, materials management and financial processes, and apply data governance standards, while recommend best practices to improve systems, interfaces, and compliance requirements

  • Influential, focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure

  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity, poise, maturity and precision both written and verbal

  • Proven track record of continuously improving data management processes, data confidence, and metrics

  • Working knowledge of IBM/IGC/WKC database tools

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within and/or lead a group or team providing guidance to members

  • Travel required up to 10%
