Responsibilities

The Data Specialist for the Operating Room is responsible for performing a wide variety of clerical procedures that requires independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of computers and other office equipment. Knows the existing lines of communication and authority, handles communications properly and is dependable and cooperative.

Understands appropriate scheduling process and works with physicians and their staff to schedule surgery cases accurately and resolve any issues that may occur. Handle heavy phone volume. Audit nursing documentation to assure accuracy with statistical reporting.

Enter patient charges in surgical information system within one business day and audit in the enterprise patient billing system. Must be flexible with work hours to meet departmental needs. Assumes responsibility for professional growth and self-development.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Education

High School graduate or equivalent.

Required Minimum Experience

Two years experience in medical scheduling preferred

Required Skills

Strong customer service skills, good organizational skills, and communication skills. Able to operate office equipment efficiently.

Ability to understand and demonstrate knowledge of data information systems. Ability to type at least 50 words per minute with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to multitask.

Maintain CPR certification. The individual must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and display a positive attitude (see WellStar's Standards of Gold and Values).

Responsibilities This position provides emergency care at the scene of an accident or other emergency. Responsibilities involve preparation for response, response, delivery of care, transportation, documentation, and post response duties. Also attends to patients being transported by ambulance on non-emergency calls and is responsible for the patient's safety in route. Responsible for performing an initial assessment of the scene and patient including obtaining a brief targeted history and completing a physical exam. Recognizes and evaluates patients who require immediate attention and when necessary initiates emergency life saving treatment. Delivers and/or supervises the delivery of emergency patient care such as administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen and resuscitation with an ambu bag. Intubates when necessary. Inserts IVs and administers medication according to physician order or ACLS protocol. Also may participate in life safety programs, community awareness programs, and other programs as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Minimum Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Successful completion of paramedic program. Required Minimum Certification: Current certification as Paramedic in the state of Georgia. Must possess a valid Class C driver's license. Must complete annual training and CEU requirements. Maintains current AHA CPR and ACLS. Maintains current PALS. BLS required. Required Minimum Experience: 1 year Experience as an Emergency Medical Technician preferred.
