What You Will Be Doing

You will be responsible for creating analytical solutions to fit our business owners needs. This will involve developing and implementing solutions using machine learning tools, data analysis, and the development of data warehouses/operational data stores. This is a highly visible role that will support operational departments regarding medical costs, utilization, provider performance and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Build proof of concept systems

  • Develop, maintain and support Business Intelligence (BI) activities

  • Identify and facilitate implementation of improvement opportunities

  • Establish and implement end to end proof of concept for data analyses

  • Demonstrates the ability to create new and different solutions that align to real work problems

What You Need for this Position

MUST HAVE:

  • BS in related field; MS preferred

  • 3+ years of Data Science or Machine Learning experience

  • Strong statistical and data analysis experience

  • 1+ years of experience within the healthcare/life science industry

  • Experience implementing data visualization solutions

  • R or Python

A Data Scientist will drive Ryder towards the cutting edge of what comes next. The Data Scientist is expected to be an expert of algorithms and knows the balance of the Art of Modeling. We're looking for someone who is curious about exploiting the latest algorithm discoveries and enhancements to increase the accuracy and broaden the use-cases that we can solve for. Showcase your skills as an expert of machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms, by utilizing the perfect blend of data with the right use-cases to turn Ryder's data into concrete value-add for the business. On this team, the Data Scientist will get the chance to be the machine learning expert, collaborating with Data Engineers and Analysts, using all their skills in order to exploit data to drive the business forward. The Scientists help push the envelope of what is possible in the big data space; streaming live data into a data lake and experimenting with data in the data sandbox. As discoveries are made, the Scientist helps facilitate the movement of the algorithms into a core solution to support the business. Requirements * Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering * Master's degree in computer science or engineering, or MBA preferred * Eight (8) years or more of relevant IT experience with a variety of DW/BI technologies supporting the full software development life cycle * Five (5) years or more of experience as a Data Integration Lead, managing large and complex environment, ideally in a multibillion dollar organization * Experience managing production incident/change request backlog, performing initial triage of issues and resource allocation * Excellent project management skills * Strong verbal communication, interpersonal and listening skills * Strong technical aptitude * A team player, with a positive attitude and willingness to help and mentor others * Expertise in Informatica & Microsoft Data Integration platform, IBM Netezza Analytical appliance, Oracle Golden Gate replication and SQL Server transactional database (expert level) * Knowledge of data modeling tools preferred (intermediate level) preferred Responsibilities DATA INTEGRATION * Bring collections and/or elements of legacy and new data together as part of a BI&A data integration architecture that adds value to the business * Collaborate with BIA development teams, enterprise architecture and other IT application teams to define current and strategic future state data integration architectures * Contribute to the creation and implementation of new design patterns and standards for the data integration domain * Provide leadership in the logical and physical design of analytical and reporting application systems, and ensure design is consistent and well integrated with existing conceptual, logical, and physical application architectures * Manage a team of data integration developers to guide the creation of ETL processes and support existing production jobs * Maintain a depth of expertise with database security, data virtualization and replication as well as other complex technical tools and solutions, data access, transformation, design, modeling, metadata structures, data integrity, archiving/recovery, etc. * Work closely with BI&A leadership and Enterprise Architecture in providing input on large-scale projects and road maps for compatibility with the IT and BI&A strategy * Manage data integration suite of tools, Netezza, Informatica, Golden Gate, SQL Server, Redwood and all related project artifacts owned by the BI&A Data Integration team PROJECT DELIVERY * Provide management oversight and direction to the data integration team in the successful delivery of BI&A solutions * Identify and articulate needs, determine project scope, create a plan and estimate project costs, effort and duration and ensure solutions are delivered within cost, scope and timeline with high quality * Develop the data integration architecture, integration processes, frameworks and best practices * Oversee the technology integration function to ensure technical alignment across business applications, data, server, storage, and network platform environments * Scope out length and difficulty of tasks and project segments; set objectives and goals; break down work into the process steps; develop schedules and task/people assignments; anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks; measure performance against goals; and evaluate results ARCHITECTURE AND LEADERSHIP * Partner with various data owners from multiple business processes and functions and IT to support the development, communication and implementation of Ryder's data integration strategy * Develop data quality standards with Data Architect, IT Enterprise Architecture and the business * Lead data integration meetings, including agenda and follow up as a backup for senior leadershipMaintain a critical data issues log to prioritize data integration issues * Partner with the business and IT to drive defect remediation and quality opportunities * Ensure that metadata critical to data governance is included in the metadata resource * Assist and prepare the budget, forecast and capital expenditure reports * Support resolution of project related issues or operational issues impacting BI&A, IT or the business * Create overall design of the enterprise data warehouse data/integration architecture * Develop and implement a production support process and supporting policies and procedures * Provide vision and strategy for EDW and RDW data integration architecture * Manage and mentor data integration developers, platform administrators and development DBAs * Deliver schedule milestones on-time to ensure project/program objectives are met * Perform other duties as assigned Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug Free workplace.
