AT&T is looking for a data scientist that will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data to help us make smarter decisions to deliver actionable reports and predictions on network behavior. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with tools and applications within a closed DoD network. You will also be expected to establish the Data Science DevOps Pod and in so doing will build and recommend tools and capabilities necessary to meet customer demand for Data and reports.

Scope and responsibilities include:

Knowledge:
Applies extensive technical expertise, and experience to real-world scenarios.

Problem Solving: Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

Discretion: Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches to assignment.

Impact: Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.

Liaison: Must have excellent people and organizational skills to professionally interact with internal and external organizations. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts in a customer-facing capacity with senior leadership on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

  • Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques

  • Data mining using state-of-the-art methods

  • Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems

  • Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis

  • Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner

  • Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A passion to automate everything

  • Hands-on experience scripting and programming skills

  • Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.

  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig

  • Experience with databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, MSSQL, Oracle

  • Demonstrated ability to work with unstructured data.

  • A motivated self-starting personality with natural intellectual curiosity

  • able to work independently while maintaining patience with constant interruptions and multiple requests.

  • Strong speaking, listening, and writing skills are critical for presentations to varied audiences in terms non-technical leadership can understand.

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.

  • Technologically savvy in handling of administrative practices.

  • Comfortable working with confidential /sensitive/ secret or proprietary information.

  • Experience in scripting with Bash, Perl, YAML, or other scripting languages

  • Strong Data analytics and reporting expertise

  • Familiarity or willingness to learn R Programming

  • Familiarity or willingness to learn Python Coding

  • Familiarity or willingness to learn Hadoop, SQL, Apache Spark

  • Familiarity or willingness to learn Data visualization tools such as Tablaeu, ggplot, d3.js and Matplottlib,

  • Experience with popular DevOps tools such as (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Vagrant, Docker, Jenkins, Maven, Selenium, or Jira), provisioning, infrastructure as code, and other DevOps concepts and tools is desirable.

Required Experience, Education, and Certifications:

  • Compliant with DoD 8570 IAT Level I baseline certification or higher

  • Master's degree from an accredited college with 3 years of professional experience, or bachelor's degree (Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Physics, Telecommunications, or Information Systems) from an accredited college with 5 years of professional experience, or 10 years related experience in DoD / Service Provider Networks

Summary: Tetra Tech, Inc. is currently seeking applicants for full-time entry level field biologists/wetland scientists in our Collinsville, Illinois office. Work schedule will be variable, with 40 hours per week minimum; hours worked could range from 40-70 hours a week depending on amount of office or field hours. Tetra Tech maintains a professional and team-oriented work environment. The person selected for this position will be responsible for assisting with fieldwork and report preparation associated with wetland delineations, stream assessments, habitat characterizations, ecological monitoring, and rare species surveys. The candidate will support mid to senior-level staff and senior Project Managers with environmental field surveys and report writing. Candidate will be required to act as a junior-level environmental scientist for projects with a wetland or ecological services component (e.g., wetland identification, delineation, and functional assessments; Section 401/404 permit support; wetland/stream mitigation design and monitoring, habitat surveys and characterizations, raptor nest surveys, endangered and threatened species surveys). Substantial travel required up to 50% or more – regionally and possibly within the continental U.S.; Generally field deployments of 10 days or less. Responsibilities:: * Assist in performing wetland identification, delineation, and functional assessment investigations in accordance with the USACE 1987 Manual and Regional Supplements. * Assist in performing habitat surveys and characterization and mapping. * Prepare associated data sheets and wetland reports. * Assist in performing raptor nest surveys and migratory bird surveys. * Assist in performing endangered and threatened species surveys. * Assist with data compilation and analysis, report writing, permit application preparation, plant community mapping, and database management. QualificationsQualifications: * BS degree in biology, Environmental Sciences, wildlife or natural resources or a MS degree or Candidate in biology, wildlife or natural resources or Environmental Sciences * 0 to 3 years of experience * Basic skills in field identification of vegetation and wildlife * Specialized expertise may be in environmental, terrestrial, wetland, or wildlife sciences * Demonstrated ability in field data collection and analysis, technical writing; * GIS skills is helpful but not necessary * Strong oral and written communication/interpersonal skills is a must * Be willing to adhere to all personal safety requirements * Comfortable in harsh weather conditions (i.e., extreme heat and cold, high winds, all forms of precipitation) * Physically capable of extensive walking to survey points * Experience with 4WD vehicles, valid driver's license and clean driving record * Able to pass a drug test and background check * Skilled use of compass, topographic maps, GPS unit, tablet, and other field equipment is preferred but not required * Must be capable of following instructions from Tetra Tech staff and collect precise and thorough data * The ability to maintain positive attitude and to accept guidance and constructive criticism * Able to work independently and as a part of a team, and interact positively with project manager, site personnel, client, and members of the public * Able to have flexibility in scheduling due to changing field conditions.
