A stock market and investment tracking company are looking to grow their Data team and add a strong Data Scientist to their Brooklyn, NY office. This Data Scientist will have a hand in building new products, implementing new models and working with large datasets. This role has a cross functional element where you will work side by side with Data Engineers and Software Engineers who are working directly on their platform. Projects involve working on their investment research platform, implementing Machine Learning models, working on the overall data infrastructure and advising on how to improve new features.

The ideal candidate could be someone who sees themselves as a Data Generalist, with either a background as a Statistician or an Engineer. Ideally you should have worked in the field of Data Science for 3+ years in a professional setting. Technical requirements include having coded with Python or Java, working with SQL, PostgreSQL databases as well as having exposure to S3 and Redis. Any exposure to Machine Learning, NLP and data pipelines are not required but a big plus. Having strong degrees in a STEM related field and also a big plus but not required.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years experience in a Data Science role

  • Coding with Python or Java

  • Experience with SQL, PostegreSQL

  • Experience with S3, Redis

  • Experience with data infrastructure

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience implementing Machine Learning models

  • Exposure to NLP

  • Degree in STEM related field

Knowledge/Experience: Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Informatics, Econometrics, Engineering, Experimental Science with 5 years of experience or Bachelor's degree and 7 years of quantitative analysis experience in data science capabilities including data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical modeling, large scale data acquisition, transformation, and structured and unstructured data analysis. Experience with database technologies, including Oracle, SAP, DB2, Teradata, MS SQL Server, SAP HANA, MySQL.
