Leads a team of people who design, develop and program methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured, diverse "big data" sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for client services and product enhancement.

Plans, manages, and controls the activities of a team that interacts with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments. Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in an effort to integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources. Advises business groups by providing strategic direction to initiative prioritization, integration and resource application. Ensures that policies and procedures align with corporate vision. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel ensuring efficient operation of the function.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to multitask. Ability to travel as needed. Demonstrated leaderships skills. BA/BS degree or equivalent. Advanced degree desirable.

We are looking for a seasoned leader for our Data Science team who will define and drive the Enterprise AI & Data platform strategy addressing real customer problems within communications, consumer goods, financial and other industry domains. We are looking for someone who is not only a talented leader, but also has strong technical depth and experience in fields like Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics and Systems. We will rely on your leadership to establish a roadmap and vision as the team engages in existing and new areas. This also includes building innovative solutions and collaborating with engineering partners to integrate them into Oracle's CX portfolio. As our partner teams are spread between the Oracle headquarters in Redwood Shores and distributed offices in London, New Zealand, Toronto, and Bangalore, this role will provide you with an opportunity to develop a data science engagement model that scales globally.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a team of the very top talent - the brightest minds in data science and data engineering with the ability to not only keep up with, but also pioneer, in this space.

  • Collaborate with and influence leadership so that your team's work directly impacts data platform strategy.

  • Develop new techniques and data that will enable answering previously unanswerable and new questions.

  • Design and architect solutions for data needs across the entire organization

  • Drive innovation in emerging machine learning fields

  • Develop deep partnerships with research, engineering and product teams to deliver on major cross-functional measurements, testing, and modeling efforts.

  • Communicate effectively to all levels of the organization, including executives.

  • Provide success in partnering teams with dramatically varying backgrounds, from the highly technical to the highly creative.

  • Advise business leaders by providing data-based strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities.

  • Exceptional problem solving skills: demonstrated ability to understand business challenges, structure complex problems, develop solutions.

Minimum Qualification

  • An advanced degree in a quantitative field - computer science, engineering, statistics, operations research, economics, etc.

  • 10 years of experience in Analytics, Data Science or Software Engineering, both as an individual contributor and managing teams.

  • Experience designing a data science roadmap and executing the vision behind it.

  • Experience working on large scale cloud native, big data and data science initiatives

  • Experience instilling a culture of ownership, collaboration, and results.

  • Track record of recruiting talent in analytics, data science, and software engineering.

  • Track record of delivering data-driven products and insights, and influencing product and engineering decisions.

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience with Graphs, Machine Learning and Systems.

  • Experience driving industry specific data science initiatives
