UnityPoint Health is building an industry-leading analytics function by aligning resources with expertise in technology solutions, claims analysis, financial analysis, clinical operations, advanced data mining tools, and analytic techniques. This team will support the strategic objectives of UnityPoint and collaborate with customers across the care continuum to ensure the appropriate information is available to drive decision making and support business needs.



  • Support the data science product life cycle: translate business problems into data science solutions, design and develop data pipelines, formulate mathematical methodologies, create user interfaces and visualizations, and support solution implementation and maintenance

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the data sources to accurately and efficiently report findings in a meaningful and understandable manner.

  • Execute ad hoc analyses involving descriptive, inferential, and predictive statistical or machine learning methods and make the results accessible and relevant to a wide variety of business users

  • Develop and refine analysis templates for problem diagnosis and opportunities assessment

  • Collaborate effectively with other analytical team members

  • Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

  • Establish effective mechanisms of communication with staff, providers, and the organization's management team to foster an environment of openness, trust and team work

  • Comply with UnityPoint Health data governance and development standards

  • Complete special projects and management reports as assigned

  • Balance team and individual responsibilities and put the success of the team above own interests

  • Actively participate in intern events



  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in an applied technical field, including (but not limited to): mathematics, statistics, operations research, analytics, data science, engineering, or physics.

  • Pursuing a Master's Degree in an applied technical field, including (but not limited to): mathematics, statistics, operations research, analytics, data science, engineering, or physics preferred.

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)


  • Educational background in mathematical modeling is strongly preferred. Preference given to applicants with healthcare experience and understanding of the healthcare industry

  • Must be comfortable working almost exclusively in scripting/statistical programming languages such as SQL, R, and Python when creating solutions

Preference given to applicants with previous experience in:

  • Healthcare data science applications and knowledge of data common in an integrated health system
  • scripting/statistical programming languages such as SQL, R, and Python
  • querying databases
  • customer facing communication


  • Ability to synthesize complex data into user friendly visual presentations for use by Operations Management and other business partners.

  • Requires highly developed communications skills to effectively collaborate with broad customer base.

  • Possesses excellent writing and verbal communications skills and the ability to understand and communicate concepts and recommendations.

  • Ability to understand and deal effectively with problems and opportunities, which arise, in a complex multiprocessing environment is crucial.

  • Ability to continuously learn and adopt new mathematical methods and technologies

What you will do As a Medical Science Liaison, you will act as a primary interface between Stryker and the scientific and medical community. You'll provide clinical expertise related to all products to internal and external customers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities include: * Develop peer-level relationships with medical and scientific experts * Interpret and effectively communicate relevant medical and scientific information * Provide clinical presentations, scientific information, and training in academic, community, and healthcare provider settings in both group and one-on-one situations * Maintain thorough and up-to-date knowledge of disease state, clinical information, and product data within therapeutic areas * Work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, regulatory, new product development, and post-market teams to provide medical and scientific expertise to influence business strategy and decision making * Handle unsolicited requests for off-label information by providing medical information through scientific exchange in a fair-balanced manner. * Attend major conventions, symposiums, advisory board programs and congresses to provide medical and scientific support to internal and external customers * Represent the end customer and the clinical perspective for risk-based product decision-making as a member of the Risk Management Board and Adverse Event Review Board. * Support development of clinical evidence through clinical research studies, clinical evaluation reports, and publications. * Review and approve all collateral material for clinical function * Contribute to departmental initiatives * Actively participate in the ongoing development of a corporate culture that strives to achieve the highest ethical standards; conduct all business affairs ethically and lawfully and by ensuring open, honest communication without fear of retaliation What you need * Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Licensed RN in good standing); Advanced degree strongly preferred * 7+ years experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical or healthcare industries required * 2+ years experience in a regulatory, CSL or MSL function or 3+ years experience in critical care strongly preferred * Excellent writing and analytical skills * Clinical trial experience preferred Work From Home: Remote Travel Percentage: 50% Stryker Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
