Responsibilities
As a Data Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and managing our data mesh architecture. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the development and successful execution of data products, ensuring they align with our strategic objectives and data mesh principles for a specific domain (e.g., Underwriting, Claims, etc.).
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and lifecycle of data products within the data mesh framework, ensuring they meet business needs and are technically viable.
Ensure the data products are designed, developed and maintained with the same rigor as any other product.
Work closely with domain experts to understand and articulate the data needs of different business units, translating these into robust data products.
Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to build a cohesive data ecosystem that reflects the principles of data mesh.
Ensure high standards of data governance and quality within your domain, aligning with the broader data mesh architecture.
Develop and maintain a product roadmap, prioritizing initiatives based on business value and technical feasibility within the data mesh structure.
Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals and expectations. Demonstrate the consumer centric approach by understanding user personas and their needs for delivering effective data products.
Establish and continuously monitor key performance indicators for data products, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with business objectives.
Advocate for the data mesh approach within the organization and provide training and support to teams adapting to this architecture.
Salary Range
$75,000.00-$175,000.00 USD
The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Data Product Manager, Data Manager, or a similar, preferably in the property and casualty insurance industry.
Able to translate business problems into data product features effectively.
Familiarity with property and casualty insurance industry data, systems, and processes. Ability to understand business needs, revenue drivers and stakeholder requirements.
Treat the data product as an asset for the entire organization. Take ownership of the product's success and advocate for its value.
Experience with Agile methodologies and product management tools.
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, PowerBI, Python).
Familiarity with data modeling concepts and database technologies
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
