Job Summary:
Role is aligned to client's Data & Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) organization and is responsible for the implementation and design extensions of the logical and physical data model which will make up the Client's Intelligently Designed Schema.
Role will be viewed as the subject matter expert on the BIDS model and will work collaboratively with others in Data Governance, Data Engineering, and Data Products to ensure source data is mapped appropriately into the model and that the model supports the needs of customer facing data applications providing predictive analytics and rapid insights. Role must have core competencies in both the ability to communicate and influence effectively as well as a passion and seasoned ability to create data schemas which support and drive insights using any & all types of data.

Principle Responsibilities:
(essential job duties and responsibilities)
*Design, model and implement Standard Input and Output files which represent the business needs and can be used across the BIDS model.

*They will facilitate consistent business analysis, data acquisition and access analysis and design, and physical expression in the data platform
*Analyze Business Requirements, design logical data models and systems functions collaboratively as part of an Agile cohort
*Define Standard Integration points for data being captured into the Data Platforms
*Integrate Master Data and Reference data processes into the path
*Implement data/information architecture standards, policies and procedures into the BIDS model as determined by the CoE Data Governance process
*Structure, attributes and nomenclature of data elements, and apply accepted data content standards to technology projects.

*Present for review, verification, and approval the Conceptual and Logical data models to be implemented ensuring naming convention and proper definition of all objects and relationships.

*Convert the Logical models in to Physical models, and generate the delta or forward engineer DDL script, and execute in the data platform.

*Create complex views and materialized views and tune for performance.

*Administer and manage the users and privileges on Erwin or ER/Studio Data Architect tool
*Manage the repository server and all projects to follow the best standards and to keep them in sync with Prod.

*Publish data models, conduct training on BIDS model to developers, BA's, DA's, and QA resources

Skills and Experiences:

  • Strong background in data modeling (3NF, star schema, data vaults) with at least one implementation of a vendor packaged (i.e. Teradata, IBM) logical data model product, preferably in the pharmaceutical, health care, or financial services industry

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of pharmaceutical, healthcare, or financial services industry experience.

  • At least 3+ years designing 3NF models and dimensional models for financial data warehouse products using industry standard tools such as Embarcadero (preferred) and Erwin.

  • Experience in modeling other data warehouse concepts such as Standard Input Files, Standard Output Files, Data Lake, Big Data, and Master Data Management is required.

  • Data Quality and Data Governance concepts and experience is required

  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years or relevant work history

  • 5+ years in a data modeling focused role

  • Trained in Agile methodologies

  • Experience with enterprise modeling solutions such as ER/Studio, Erwin, or Power Designer

  • Background in cloud based EDWs (RedShift, Big Query, Snowflake)

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AWS RedShift

  • Experience with enterprise BI solutions (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI)

  • Experience in a health industry (pharma or med tech)

Education:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar degree
