The Department of Neurosurgery is currently seeking a Data Manager to play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our quality and patient safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in collecting, interpreting, and preparing complex datasets to maintain the accuracy and reliability of the reported data. They will collaborate closely with our faculty, residents, and administrative staff to effectively manage the monthly mortality and morbidity (M&M) conferences, assist in reviewing patient safety events, and generate reports that identify opportunities for improvement.
In this role, the Data Manager will be responsible for creating databases using HIPAA compliant tracking systems and tools like Redcap, as well as developing reporting dashboards utilizing excel, tableau, or other similar tools. They will also have the opportunity to participate in the hospital-wide mortality review group, where they will input and assign neurological deaths to the appropriate system and providers. Furthermore, they will serve as a valuable consultant for medical students and fellows, offering guidance and support in their data collection for research projects.
In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate must possess exceptional time management, organizational, and excel skills. Finally, they should anticipate conducting retrospective reviews on the data collection process to assess the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of our department.
The department will support the incumbent with additional training such as being certified by Vizient in their Vizient Analyst Program.

Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong excel and analytical skills
Direct experience with quality and patient safety in an ambulatory setting
Experience with Midas, PowerInsights, Redcap and Vizient
Knowledge of CMS/State/Federal regulations
Demonstrated experience working in a medical setting and interaction with medical providers
Demonstrated knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Cerner
Experience with Neurological specialties
