This position will organize the data needs of the Perinatal Origins of Disease Research Initiative (PODRI) and specific research projects of the NU Cord Biorepository. The data manager will work to identify data needs for each project and help the research staff implement best data practices.
The data manager will create best practices for data extraction and organization. The data manager/analyst will develop and maintain the databases of the NU Cord Biorepository and serve as the expert for data management and data analysis.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides data planning support for selected projects in the PODRI and NU Cord Biorepository, including consultation and needs assessment. The data manager will develop and oversee systems and procedures that will streamline and standardize the capture and management of data.
Setting up data files for investigator-initiated projects using REDCap, excel or other databases. Ensure data files are captured according to each project's needs and designated database and ensuring that standardized protocols are followed. Develops an SOP(s) for data collection and management for the core staff to adhere to for each project.
Fields data queries and questions and creates reports of results for investigators as needed. Communicate with the DAR Systems Reporting Specialist and Enterprise Data Warehouse consultant to extract data from EPIC as needed. Also communicates with statisticians as needed.
Other job functions as assigned. These may include laboratory-based studies coupled with data entry at the new Simpson-Querrey Research Building to assist in building the NU Cord Biorepository.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Degree in Biological Sciences and/or Health Informatics. Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
Experience working in EPIC, REDCap and Excel. Experience working with SAS, R, Unix, and higher level programming such as Python. Ability to perform high-level data analysis, including bioinformatics experience. Prior experience/interest in laboratory-based research.
