The Data Management and Governance Leader is responsible for the overall management of nVent's data program. This role will support defining and implementing the multi-year roadmap for data strategy in collaboration with business and technology leaders to define scope, priorities and implementation plan, define and maintain policies and standards for end-to-end data governance. This includes alignment and prioritization of the quality, availability, usage, integrity, and security of nVent's data assets (internal and external data). This role has responsibility for aligning data policy and administration with relevant regulatory, legal and ethical mandates. This role is also responsible for organizing and leading a team of Global Data Owners in establishing, maintaining and communicating data quality and standards to the broader organization. The Data management and governance leader will also be responsible for selecting and implementing modern technology to support the data management needs of the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Authority and accountability to foster and exploit the value of enterprise information assets by establishing and leading a data management program.
Identify and standardize the use and governance of information in support of the overall global business strategy.
Enable strategically aligned data insights that help deliver value and be a champion for a data-driven, decision-making culture.
Develop and maintain controls on data quality, interoperability and sources to effectively manage corporate risk.
Define SLA's and processes for the effective acquisition, storage and integration of critical business data (internal and external).
Organize and lead a data governance council (DGC).
Work with Global Data Owners to develop capabilities to enable data standards and rules for cleansing, mapping, integrating, managing and establishing hierarchies for key company data.
Provide leadership in the areas of data governance, master data management, data migration to the common process & system team during blueprinting, deployment and steady state operations activities.
Define job roles, recruit candidates and manage directly or indirectly a team of data governance leaders and senior information management professionals in regions or business segments across a complex, international group enterprise.
Define and manage policies and programs which advance the role of business data stewards at nVent in concert with legal, information security, and corporate risk and compliance offices.
Evolve and institutionalize behaviors for the appropriate use of information within changing privacy needs, ethical values, societal expectations and cultural norms.
Define, manage, and control master data and metadata management policies, controls, and standards, including reference data.
Lead the development, publication and maintenance of the corporate information architecture and technologies, as well as a road map for its future development that matches and supports business needs.
Lead the deployment and management of data quality monitoring systems. Measure master data and reference data for compliance to policy, standards and conceptual models.
Create policies and controls for the appropriate protection of enterprise information assets through a defined life cycle from acquisition or creation to end of life destruction and disposal procedures.
Additional responsibilities, as the role and team mature:
Be a marketing champion for the information services that the enterprise provides and the information management capabilities it has.
Ensure that appropriate audit controls exist for data that serves as the source material for regulatory reports.
Partner with IT to coordinate requirements gathering for the integration and staging of data, and the development and maintenance of the data warehouse and data marts, for use by analysts throughout the organization.
Scan the horizon for emerging management tools, skills, techniques and technologies, and ensure their timely introduction for competitive advantage.
A bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work experience. Academic qualification or professional training and experience in legal and regulatory areas are also desirable.
Fifteen or more years of business experience, ideally in business management, legal, financial or information or IT management. Broad business experience internally and within the vertical industry is desired.
Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts.
Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards.
Experience in defining requirements for and implementing modern technologies enabling effective data management including legislation impacts.
