Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Data Links Technician to perform related tasks as required for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Combat Systems (Weapons) Division SSDS/Links/Strike Branch (Code 291).

Provide technical support as follows:

  • Conduct specified engineering/technical evaluations

  • Execute equipment functional checks

  • Perform troubleshooting/test/analysis

  • Implement equipment repair to correct Data Links, Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT), Advanced Combat Direction System (ACDS) and Ships Self Defense System (SSDS) MK 1/2

  • Analyze equipment; review and inspect data to determine source of fault

  • Propose equipment engineering changes toward improving quality and reliability and to facilitate installation, maintenance and repair

  • Report findings/discrepancies as required

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist Ship's Force technicians and government personnel to analyze and resolve malfunctions detected during equipment operation and test. Conduct on-site support during shipboard Combat Systems tasks including Pier Side Refurbishments, C5RA, CSPAT, ICMP, TSRA, BMDRA, INSURV programs and Tech Assist events.

Minimum Requirements

  • GENERAL EXPERIENCE: A minimum of six (6) years full-time hands-on technician level experience within last 10 years in installation, testing, troubleshooting, fault isolation, and repair of Combat, ASW, USW, MIW, or C4I systems and equipment.

  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years full time hands-on technician experience within last five years in assembly, overhaul, repair, modification, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of shipboard Combat, ASW, USW, MIW, or C4I systems.

  • Experience in each interfaces, ancillary and special purpose testing of the following:

  • Data Link

  • Battle Force Tactical Trainer (BFTT)

  • Ship Self Defense Force (SSDS)

  • Advanced Combat Direction System (ACDS)

  • Position requires an active Security Clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card.

VIEW JOBS 2/20/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-05-21T00:00 Position Description The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Office of Coast Survey (OCS) performs surveying and mapping of the marine environment for nautical charting and other purposes. The Hydrographic Surveys Division (HSD) is directly responsible for planning and overseeing hydrographic surveys, reviewing and accepting survey data, processing survey data for application to affected charts, and routing survey data and products to customers and archives. The hydrographic branch that is located in Norfolk, Virginia, is responsible for the quality assurance and processing of hydrographic data acquired in United States waters, and the creation of products using these data, which support safe navigation and the production of nautical charts. Will spend up to 10 weeks a year at seat conducting hydrographic surveys using echo sounders, oceanographic instruments, GPS, data acquisition and processing systems, and Geographic Information systems (GIS). Other duties include: Will assist with the following tasks: * Using CARIS, ArcGIS and other software to process, evaluate, and perform quality assurance on hydrographic survey data * Creating data products from hydrographic survey data * Participating in the development of new technology, systems, and procedures used in hydrography * Interacting with hydrographic survey data users, managers, and others in the marine environment. When ashore, the duty station will be at the Norfolk branch. May require up to 10 weeks aboard a NOAA survey platform at sea acquiring and processing hydrographic survey data. While at sea, support may be required to work in excess of 8 hours per day or may be required to work through the weekend, and workdays are often 10-12 hours in length and the crew work through weekends when the ship is underway. Required Skills 2+ year of experience with acquiring, processing, or reviewing bathymetric data and GIS data ingestion, manipulation, and analysis. Requires basic knowledge of the CARIS suite, including HIPS/SIPS, Bathy Database, and ArcGIS. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word and Power Point. Must have a positive attitude and the ability to work with teams or individually; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; strong technical writing and verbal communication skills; and excellent computer skills. Computer courses or experience directly related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Engineering, Databases, and/or Computer Aided Design software are highly desired. Any time spent working aboard a vessel is a big plus. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
