Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) Data Management and Governance is seeking a Data Content Owner, responsible for providing business oversight of data governance processes in source applications. This brand new role will focus on the governance of data in our applications, understand where the risks of creating Data Quality issues exist and drive proactive controls to mitigate those risks. This role will partner with CCB Technology throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure new applications and systems are built with appropriate data governance and controls.

A successful candidate in this role will become familiar with applicable JPMC and CCB Data Policies and Standards, drive the remediation of Data Quality issues from technology applications, and partner with Technology and Business to implement proactive data controls. General tasks will include supporting application owners as they document metadata, assess data risks, guide application development teams, and drive business priorities to reduce data quality issues and improve data governance.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess a strong understanding of Data Governance practices.

  • Be able to assess impacts of Data Quality issues to Business processes.

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of data risk and controls.

  • Be able to effectively partner with Technology and Business partners.


  • Five or more years' experience with Data governance, Risk, or Controls functions in the financial sector

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in a related field

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Ideal Candidate will also have:

  • Experience with Agile project management practices and SDLC processes

  • Familiarity with Oracle, Teradata, Hadoop and similar data technologies

  • Detail oriented and ability to work independently

  • Ability to develop compelling reporting and presentations.

In this highly visible role you will partner with the Provider Domain Owner to understand business priorities and drive execution of business initiatives in support of the domain. Additionally you will actively participate in the Provider Data Domain governance and strategy framework. The Enterprise Data Strategy team within Global Data & Analytics (GD&A) is built to help CIGNA drive that improvement in the accessibility and quality of our data assets and tools, and allow us to deliver data solutions faster than we do today. Our ultimate goal is to ensure Cigna's ability to grow is unconstrained by any limitations of our data. The CIGNA Enterprise Data Strategy team is comprised of business and technical teams spanning Customer, Provider, Buyer and Intermediary Data Domains as well as foundational enterprise data teams. Responsibilities: * Sets the vision and strategic direction of the work for the group. Works with Enterprise Data Strategy Data Office team to define and establish provider data catalog, data policy library, data quality program, metadata and reference repository. * Partners with Enterprise Data Strategy (EDS) Data Domain Owner to decompose Portfolio (Agile) Epic work requirements and priorities into Program Epics. Maintains the Program Backlog and decomposes Portfolio Epics into Program Epics and Features. Full accountability for execution of Program Epics and associated products / deliverables. * Makes and executes key decisions on strategy and direction; creates Vision and Roadmap. * In collaboration with stakeholders, ensures teams have necessary budgets, resources, approvals, and other support. * Communicates regularly with key Stakeholders to collect and share feedback. * Ensures that business owners are engaged and supportive of direction.
