Seeking a Data Governance Analyst contractor provide support to our banking client in Santa Clara, CA.


The Data Governance Analyst is the owner of Key Data Elements within the area of their domain and is accountable for ensuring correct and accurate nature of these critical data assets. Within their area of responsibility, Steward is responsible for identifying critical data elements along with being accountable for defining the entire lineage of each critical data element (KDE) back to the System of Record (SOR) and will work within the Data Management Council (DGC) framework to ensure that these data assets have been well defined, documented, certified.

Steward demonstrates that they have identified and prioritized all critical data for which they are accountable. Completes all steps for certification and validation of critical data to ensure data requirements are developed per standard.

Critical data assets which they are accountable for are certified based on policies and standards. Action plans on anomalies or issues are documented, to ensure that all polices are followed. Steward will perform:

Initial data discovery Profile data
Define and record all DQ business rules and valid values that apply to critical data that steward is accountable
Define all metadata including valid values for data take steps to define and resolve issues concerning KDEs
Proactive DQ and monitors ongoing quality of data assets
Implement plan to review for exceptions and changes of quality
Utilize quality indexing tools for appropriate measurements
Consistency of critical data assets with usage across applications
Certify consumptions
Steward provides transparency into data definition and lineage, ensures that metadata and lineage are defined, complete, correct and accurate and are entered into the LOBs Metadata solution. Steward coordinates all Metadata efforts and provides roadmap and implementation plan to ensure that metadata is present in the LOBs Metadata Solution.


Must have 5+ years of similar work experience
Must have banking domain knowledge preferably in domains like Basel, IFRS
Should have excellent communication skills
Have the ability to define templates for artifacts which would be delivered as part of the DG function and interact with stakeholders from the lines of business

To keep up with our business and data growth, the Data Engineering team is expanding. We need Staff Data Engineers to join our team. This impactful role will promote the build-out and usage of the data platform, data-driven decisions and data products for, it's customers, partners, and consumers. Additionally, this role will be part of the core team contributing to design and development of's new data and analytics platform. Duties and Responsibilities: * Develop control structures within a simple environment to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels. * Provide thought leadership and participate with projects that involve any of the upstream or downstream data flows and processes. * Ensure controls are in place over applications to ensure the data integrity by performing data integrity gap analysis. * Coordinate the resolution of data integrity gaps by working with the business owners and IT. * Collaborate with upstream sources and downstream consumers to come up with expandable data contracts * Develop Data Dictionary, Data Lineage patterns and documentation to aide Data Platform users. * Be integral part of scrum team to deliver on commitments on time and with good quality Education, Skills and Experience: * B.S. in Computer Science, Analytics or Mathematics * Strong SQL experience and other analytics/reporting tools. * Strong understanding of databases and data structures. Experience with data quality analysis and data profiling is highly desired. * 5+ years of experience or Masters degree in relevant field with 3+ years experience in Data engineering/ Big Data. * Solid understanding of distributed programming, software engineering and operations * Understanding of Cloud technologies (preferably AWS services), and security and how they can be combined to design scalable cloud solutions * Strong prioritization skills and sense of urgency * Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Takes pride in efficient designs and accurate results * Objectively analyzes the pros, cons, and the trade-offs of a design path and helps the team to arrive at the most optimal solution, which may not be their own * Loves to learn and experiment with new technologies and shares findings with the team * Effective team player.
