Job Summary:
The overall purpose of the Data Entry Pharmacy Technician position is to enter and process new prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system permitted by pharmacy regulation, and only at the direction of the supervising pharmacist after their review of the prescription in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalency certificate
Current state registration as a pharmacy technician in good standing
Pharmacy technician certification required
ACPE IV Certification required
Data Entry focus
Framework and Docutrack experience are STRONGLY PREFERRED
Long term care experience is required
Evening & overnight positions
Majority Remote and/or full Remote after training
Essential Functions:
Enters prescription/physician order data into the pharmacy's data processing system(s) in accurate and timely manner to eliminate errors at dispensing
Knowledge to reconstitute medications as required
Triage incoming fax prescriptions to ensure timely dispensing
Ensure proper notes in computer and cycle fill coding
Calculate and/or verify the correct dosage based on the prescription
Demonstrate caring, understanding and courtesy when responding to calls from customers. Route calls as appropriate to ensure top level service
Ensure all prescriptions assigned for processing are completed in regular shift
Receive, evaluate, process and follow-up as needed with doctors' offices on all refills assigned
Develop proficiency in the utilization of all pharmacy systems (i.e. document imaging, legacy pharmacy computer operating system)
On an as needed, may assist with filing of completed orders, packaging of medications, profiling of orders for medical records, and filling processed prescriptions to dispense to the patient
Develop and learn cycle in order to meet delivery deadlines. Maintain data entry records for cycle medication, fill requests and process cycle medication orders needing renewal in addition to new cycle orders as applicable
Assist in inventory management and inventory counts
Sound working knowledge of all computer hardware and software in use, particularly the pharmacy operating system (POS), digital imaging software, automated dispensing systems, and Microsoft applications.
Participates in the coordination, scheduling, and preparation of medication deliveries
May assist with the training of newly hired technicians and/or student externs as assigned by the pharmacist
Assist as needed in auditing of patient records
Participates in the development and achievement of continuous quality improvement
Promotes teamwork through cooperation and communication to attain company and departmental goals
Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety.
Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
Knowledge of basic drug terminology/abbreviations/symbols, pharmaceutical calculations
Understanding of systems of measurement, drug use, interpreting directions for use, and aseptic techniques
Attention to detail with accurate and timely completion of tasks
Intermediate level of computer knowledge skills/proficiency and able to adapt to new/evolving technologies
Strong time management and organizational skills
Self-motivated and able to work independently and productively
Interpersonal skills required to deal effectively and courteously with all co-workers, medical/nursing/professional personnel, and patients/caregivers
Willingness to be a team player and promote a positive team environment
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently
Continuing Education:
Attends in-service and educational programs as required
Attends/performs continuing education required for maintenance of technician registration and/or certification
Obtains continuing education appropriate for the type of compounding done by the technician
As required by the pharmacist-in-charge and at least annually, technicians preparing sterile preparations shall demonstrate competency via observation, evaluation and demonstration of satisfactory aseptic technique and media fill challenges
