Job Description At FLIR, we have a simple but ambitious mission: to develop market-leading thermal and sensing technologies which enhance everyday life. From saving energy, to saving lives, FLIR is making a real difference in our world. Our products are used in a wide array of situations to rescue people in danger, detect criminals, conserve energy, navigate safely, provide security around the globe, and protect our environment. We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins. The Data Governance and Analytics (DnA) team rolls up to Corporate Finance but works with individuals representing all divisions and corporate functions to take a coordinated, unified approach toward managing data as a strategic asset. The ideal candidate will have spent multiple years professionally or academically focused on data-related activities such as data quality, analytics, data warehousing, data architecture, document and content management, reporting/dashboarding, or data governance and will have developed an appreciation for data that is complete, timely, valid, accurate, and consistent. In doing so, they'll work closely with business and functional leadership to improve the availability and value of core data assets. To assess the performance and effectiveness of FLIR's data governance practices, the analyst will help develop, review and monitor metrics established for this purpose. Along with the Data Governance Working Team, Domain or Subject Matter Stewards, Business Unit Stewards, and Data Governance Partners, this person will author standards, policies, and procedures for governing data, with guidance from the Data Governance and Analytics Manager, and identify and escalate issues related to data governance, quality, availability, etc. In partnership with data stewards, they will develop well-defined names and definitions for our data, and a complete set of metadata which makes clear what quality data should look like. The data governance analyst will also perform data quality work, measuring how well our data adheres to the standards and purposes which the data serves, and actively take steps to increase information quality either directly or through partnerships and process improvements. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher in information systems, computer science, or related discipline preferred 3+ years of experience in roles related to data management, ideally in high-tech manufacturing or other consumer or industrial product companies Experience with data governance programs and policies at large organizations, or in-depth study of data governance models Experience developing and documenting data management policies and standards to preserve data quality and ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as ITAR, GDPR, PCI, etc. Experience with industry-leading Master Data Management (MDM), Metadata Management, and/or Data Quality Management solutions Familiarity with the Data Management Association (DAMA) Body of Knowledge (DAMA-DMBOK) and its components, or similar frameworks for understanding data management best practices Experience implementing and/or maintaining business glossaries and data dictionaries, or meaningful knowledge of best practices and capabilities in this area Experience simplifying, summarizing, and presenting technical concepts Highly organized with a track record of dependable delivery and quality work products Excellent verbal- and written-communication skills, including an "editor's eye" when it comes to clear data definitions and standards Highly proficient in MS Office Experience with SQL Available for up to 10% travel FLIR and all of our employees are committed to conducting business with the highest ethical standards.
