Job summary

The Red Hat Global Finance Analytics team is looking for a Data Engineer to help guide advanced analytics into production enterprise systems to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will join a global team of high performing data engineers and data scientists. You'll need to have solid technical skills and business acumen to help us build the next generation of data-driven decision making at Red Hat. You will be responsible for partnering closely with the Data Science team to build data pipelines for analytics assets and machine learning workloads. You'll also work closely with IT to productionalize these new sets of analytics capabilities into enterprise systems. As a Data Engineer, you will work cross-functionally with data scientists, developers, and business stakeholders, which will give you the opportunity to sharpen the application of your technical skills while working to develop your business savviness.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work closely with stakeholders to turn business problems into analytical projects, translated requirements, and solutions

  • Work cross-functionally with teams on data migration, translation, and organization initiatives

  • Develop data processes for data workflow into production environments

  • Translate large volumes of raw, unstructured data into highly visual and easily digestible formats

  • Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality

  • Help support the team's analytical environments and reporting tools

  • Help create, maintain, and implement tools, libraries, and systems to increase the efficiency and scalability of the team

Required skills

  • Advanced degree in computer science, software engineering, or a quantitative field

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with software or technology companies

  • Solid initiative and ability to manage multiple projects

  • Solid relationship management and persuasion skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Motivated with sense of personal accountability

  • Ability to work well within a team and willingness to learn new things and be coached

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent programming skills in SQL and Python

  • Significant experience using automation tools like Apache Airflow and Luigi

  • Significant experience using big data technologies like Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, and Apache Spark

  • Basic experience with Linux

  • Basic understanding of (SFDC) and reporting in it

  • Experience in relational database systems like SQL Server, Amazon Redshift, Oracle, BigQuery, etc.

  • Basic experience with Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
